so... basically, you need to be in a concrete bunker while wearing a specially made jumpsuit to use the Kinect?

Haha. I like how MS specifically represents an iPhone as an offending device, not just some generic phone.
I never noticed that
*facepalm*
and yes creature thats what it seems like. Man Microsoft just dug themselves a virtual boy

I was pretty much thinking something along these lines. It seems like too much work to actually be able to enjoy it
Other than that, it looks cool

I'm not an MS fan, but I doubt you really need to follow those instructions to the letter. Most gadgets have nitpicky instructions like that, but nobody ever reads the manual, and they still can use the device well enough. But personally Sony's Move interests me more, because I don't see much of an advantage to the full-body tracking over just tracking your arm really well. All I really want out of motion tracking is to be able to swing a sword or lightsaber anyway

Don't start about motion tracking lightsaber duels... I'll be too excited to sleep for days
But really, just think how it will/would be to swing a sabre, dodge attacks, and slice off the opponents limbs (and if lightsabers didn't cauterise wounds there'd be blood splatter all over the screen... Maybe for an 'Unrated' version of the game? )
Ah, it would be bliss... (not referring to the gore)

If you search Youtube, there's some pretty cool stuff people are doing with the Kinect with an opensource driver someone made. It makes me wonder why MS is only using it for games, when it has so many more usage.

Indeed. I guess fans are sometimes smarter than the developers themselves. I guess you guys could be an example, but Oni did have a deadline.

I fully agree about being so excited not being able to sleep for days. However if the lightsaber blades didn't cauterize I'd have to kill someone.
@Irit, that's true about always having instructions no follows. It seems that those things, or too many of those things might interfere, but it's doubtful it will stop hte device from functioning period

From what i have seen it looks like the eye toy all over again. Heavily advertised, boring gimmick, and not worth your time

Yeah me too. I wanted one so bad when i was a kid, the games are odd and mostly stupid but it has a charm that the Kinect doesn't have. Maybe its the fact that you can see yourself in the game

Or the more popular theory, I forget where I saw it, but there's this video, where Frodo takes an Eagle, and then just flies and drops it in, then when they're flying away they're saying: "That was easy. Could you imagine if we'd had to walk?"

Yes, that was a video from howitshouldhaveended.com. Although there's good reason why they couldn't have done that but it's a funny video.
