Way to fix PC performance issues?

Simply put, Oni is an old game, an is not running as fast as it should given modern hardware.

For example, my computer right now has an 8800 GT and a Intel core Duo 2.66 GHz. It can run modern games just fine. And yet Oni has stutters and pauses and slow downs.

Is there any way of getting around this issue? Or will we simply have to accept that running Oni is going to problematic at best in the coming years?

Re: Way to fix PC performance issues?

Do you have an Nvidia or ATI video card?

8800 Gt is Nvidia.

FYI though, I had similar, and worse issues with a 5870M, which is a laptop Ati card.

Try forcing Vsync from the nvidia control panel.

Re: Way to fix PC performance issues?

Listen, slimman, the app you're posting is the standard WinXP-patched app which has been in the community for years, you just found it in a different download location than the usual one (http://oni.bungie.org/help/winxp.html).  I appreciate your trying to be helpful, but most players are already aware of the patch.  Please don't keep posting it in thread after thread, twice is enough (I deleted your third post from the Crash thread -- you'll note that it was already linked to by geyser in post #2 of that thread).

Re: Way to fix PC performance issues?

I compared the two copies of the app in a file-diff program and did not see any differences.

Re: Way to fix PC performance issues?

In any case, Ian's patch would do nothing to increase performance.
