Hey there.
Not really sure where to start looking at this, but Oni Anniversary edition keeps crashing on trying to load the 5th level of the game.
Any ideas where I can start troubleshooting?

Hmm, can you choose "Help>Request help..." in the AE Installer? This will send the logs to me and Alloc, and we might be able to find the problem.

Done. I checked the debugger file, and it seemed to be missing a lot of items.
Let me know if there is anything else I can send through.
I will only be able to reply in another 20 something hours though.

debugger.txt is always complaining about a lot of missing items, so don't worry about that :-) Probably the key info will be in the AEI's log. Thanks.

Just an FYI, we haven't seen that help request come through yet. One suggestion that came up on our Discord was for you to complete the previous level again. Sometimes a mod does something unusual like add a savepoint to a level, and if you then turn off the mod, it could crash when loading the level. You can load the last savepoint of the previous level and then use the 'winlevel' cheat to instantly move to the next level, which should re-save the savepoints and fix the problem. That being said, it doesn't sound like you had any advanced mods installed that would cause this issue. The loadout you mentioned above should be a pretty safe selection of mods.
There's a good chance we'll learn something from the help request logs. I don't see them in my spam. Are you sure they went out?

I'll try sending them again
They should have gone through.
I have sent them through again

For some reason we're not seeing them Can you email these files to [my user name]@yahoo.com?
Oni/AE/debugger.txt
Oni/AE/startup.txt
Oni/AE/daodan.ini
Oni/AE/AEInstaller/aei_output.log
Oni/AE/AEInstaller/Initialization.log
Oni/AE/AEInstaller/Installation.log
Oni/AE/AEInstaller/updater_output.log

The files are away
You should get them in a bit

Got them, thanks. I'll share these with Alloc. I can already see that there is indeed a problem that occurred while building level6_Final (Chapter 5). Can you make sure that there are a level6_Final.dat and level6_Final.raw in Oni/GameDataFolder/? If so, how big are they?

Ahahaha.
Jackpot.
The files are 1 and 6 KB each
I'm pasting over the files from the base game to see what happens
Offline
Yeah that didn't work
As soon as I run the new installer - 2.30, it clears the level.dat and level.raw
level.dat is at 6 KB
level.raw is at 1 KB

I meant for you to check the vanilla level6 files that are in Oni/GameDataFolder/, not in Oni/AE/GameDataFolder/. If those are missing then the AEI cannot use them to build new data files for the AE. Can you tell me the size of those two files in Oni/GameDataFolder/?

Aaah ok.
The file size is as follows in the base game:
level.dat 12.824 KB
level.raw 30.448 KB
Offline
Yikes, something's wrong there. level6_Final.dat should be about 10.6MB and level6_Final.raw should be about 26.6MB, to give you a general idea (it depends on the exact version of Oni). You will see sizes in that range for the other .dat/.raw files, for instance. You should look into re-installing Oni to make sure you have a complete GameDataFolder, then start again with installing the AE on top of that.

One more request: could you open the AEI, try Help>Request help..., and then close the AEI and email us aei_output.log again? We're wondering if there's an error being logged there concerning the failure to send the help request. There wasn't an error in the aei_output.log you sent us, but maybe that's because you did other stuff in the AEI after sending your help request. If you close the AEI after sending the help request then maybe there will be an informative error in the log for us to look at.

Well, the good news is that after a reinstall of everything, the game lets me into the 5th level.
I am sending those log files now

Oh, great, glad that worked for you. Got the log file and it is quite interesting. I'll forward it on to Alloc, the developer.
