Most mods today are in a format we simply call "packages". These packages have been placed on a community web site called the Mod Depot. However, as of April 2013, the Anniversary Edition Installer (see HERE for info and download) will automatically list for you all mods on the Depot that are in package format. You do not need to download these mods yourself anymore. ¡Viva la revolución! So, despite what older posts on this Modifications forum may say, the proper order of events is:
1. Install the AE.
2. Find the mod within the AE Installer, tick its checkbox, and hit Install.
To uninstall a mod, clear its checkbox in the Installer and hit Install again.
------------------
Now, there are still some older mods out there on the Depot in formats which the AEI cannot handle. At this point, if they could have been converted into packages, they probably would have been. If you run into one of these and it looks interesting, but you can't figure out how to use it, I would suggest searching this forum for a topic devoted to the mod, and asking for help there; create a new topic if you can't find one.

What does it matter? Even if the odds are against me, I'll do it, it doesn't matter.
