Oni on a Core2Duo Vista Laptop

I'm trying to run Oni on my laptop, but like many others I'm having issues with it running exceptionally slow.  I've attempted the fixes mentioned in the other posts (such as Daodan), but they don't work for me.   I'd love to be able to play Oni again.

If someone has similar laptop specs as me and are able to run Oni just fine, could you please share your fix with me, I'd appreciate it.  My laptop specs are:

Windows Vista Business
Asus V1jp
Intel Core2Duo @ 2 Ghz
2 Gigs RAM
ATI Radeon X1700; latest drivers have been applied
DirectX 10

Thanks for any tip any of you can offer!  And I apologize for yet another of these posts.
