Re: Ota

(1) Looks like the same problem as Dr. Genya had here: http://oni.bungie.org/community/forum/v … 1636#p1636
The solution is to read the README. In the newer versions the guns are available through an ingame menu.

Here's an excerpt from the readme I made for TCTF HQ
(does not apply to all versions; read the specific readme)

FEATURES/SPECIALS
1.    The arena automatically cycles between 6 different areas :
        area 0 : DAMOCLES
        area 1 : CRASH 'N' BURN
        area 2 : SHATTERED GLASS
The specials enable you to restart the current area or quick-cycle areas.
You can change the starting arena by editing the script.

2.    There are several time/frag limit modes. Default is a frag limit of 100.
        TIME LIMIT : 3 MINUTES
        TIME LIMIT : 5 MINUTES
        100-FRAG and 50-FRAG LIMITS
The first team to reach a frag limit wins.
If a time limit is reached, the team with the most frags wins.
The arena then automatically moves to the next area.
The time/frag limit is settable via the menu.
You can change the default by editing the script.

3.    The arena has multiple gun modes. Default is melee (no guns).
You can also have Van de Graaff Pistols, Campbell Equalizers,
Plasma Rifles, Mercury Bows or random guns.
You can set the guns to be given at respawn or spawned on the ground.
You can change the default gun mode by editing the script.

4.    Several "air qualities" are available :
        0 : CLEAN AIR HAPPY
        1 : PURPLE HAZE
        2 : HEAVY SMOG
        3 : CATACLYSM
Default is CLEAN AIR HAPPY for all areas except DAMOCLES (PURPLE HAZE)
Setting a custom air quality disables these default air qualities.

5.    This release features a special mode (enabled by default)
called "DRAIN YOU". Whenever Barabas regenerates, he will poison you at the same time.
________________________
HOW TO USE SPECIALS ?
0.    You can enable the arena's special functions by pressing F9
(or whatever key you use for recording the player's moves)

0bis.    Be sure you stop movie recording (default is F10) as soon as
you don't need the special function.
Else you will get buffer overflow and Oni will "Blam!"

0ter.    You must also keep the number of "saved_filmXXX.dat" files small !

1.    Arena cycler : press (F9,) F3 (, F10) to transfer the arena to the next area

1bis.    F3 from within an active menu restarts the current area.

1ter.    Don't restart an area until all players have finished entering the arena.

2.    The menu is enabled with (F9,) F2. Then repeatedly pressing F2 cycles through :
BOT CYCLER : use this to apply cheat codes to bots
TOOLS OF DEATH : use this to select the gun mode
TIME/FRAG LIMIT : use this to choose a time/frag limit
AIR QUALITY : use this to set the air quality
TODAY'S SPECIALS : use this to toggle "DRAIN YOU"
        (BACK TO GAME)
In each of those menus, CREEP BACK cycles the current setting.
BOT CYCLER : CREEP BACK = next player
TOOLS OF DEATH : CREEP BACK = next gun mode
        TIME/FRAG LIMIT : CREEP BACK = next time/frag limit
AIR QUALITY : CREEP BACK = next air quality
        TODAY'S SPECIALS : CREEP BACK = "DRAIN YOU" ON/OFF

2bis.    In BOT CYCLER, F2 is only effective if you're in control of PLAYER 0

You're supposed to have read that. Anything specific you don't understand here?

(3) Like the gun modes, the frag/time limits can be switched ingame. The menu is detailed in the README.
If you want to modify the existing frag/time limits or add new ones, then you're supposed to edit the scripts.
I won't give detailed modding instructions for that: just have a look at ArenaResetScore and ArenaScoreInfo.
These are the two blocks (known as "functions") that you'd want to edit (they're at the top of arena_score.bsl)

Re: Ota

Yeh nice, I understand.

You don't sound like you have read and understood the readme. Is there a problem with it? tongue

explain like you are doing that right now (its more easy)

More  easy for whom? People write READMEs for a reason, you know...
The reason is something like not having to explain the same thing over an over to a lot of different people.
I'll make an exception for you but you shouldn't regard it as a favor, or as the way things should happen.
Usually, people just read the README and don't need help from me. So what point is your case making?

roll

I can't really "tell you what I'm doing right now" unless you tell me what version you're using.
The functionality of the menu is a bit different from one version of OTA to another.

First off, in your key_config.txt you should have these two lines somewhere

bind fkey9 to start_record
bind fkey10 to stop_record

Then while running OTA, press F9. Then press F2. The menu should appear.

Follow the instructions on the screen or the "map of the menu" in the README.
(sorry, but I can't really tell you how many times you should press F2 or CROUCH)

Basically, if you have OTA 1.1 or higher, press F2 until you see the "TOOLS OF DEATH" header.
Then press CROUCH until you see a gun mode that looks good.
Then press F2 again until you exit the menu.
Once you've left the menu, press F10 or you'll get a crash after half an hour or so.

That's the last time I give instructions like that. Next time, I might... you know... wink

Re: Ota

I tested that and works nicely (F9 and F2 then crouch to choose then F10) , but I am here to ask how can I see videos from ONI, I recorded one, now how I see it? (if I can)

Re: Ota

The "saved_film"s are actually not videos. They are lists of keyboard/mouse events, used by developers.
"Playing back" such a "film" will apply the sequence of keyboard/mouse events to a specific character.
Try adding "bind fkey11 to play_record" to key_config.txt and hitting F11 after "recording" with F9 and F10.
As you see, it's not very useful, and has nothing to do with recording videos. Just use FRAPS or similar...

Re: Ota

I think you have 2 use the OSE(Oni script editor) by Tyr. Unfortunately, he's kinda busy and his older versions just had their licenses expired. >< Maybe there's another kind of editor by geyser or some other pros that i'm not aware of.... roll
As for OTAs, you can get those from http://wiki.oni2.net/index.php/ONK:OTA(but geyser once said that it's old n no one cares bout it sad

Re: Ota

@ azewrath:
Which Konoko pic do you love? "ioneyes", my new "farewell" avatar?
I have more here if you're interested: http://geyser.oni2.net/pics/avatars/

I didn't say no one cared about the OTA wikipage, just that it looked like it.
I care about it, but 1) I can't take care of it; 2) if I do, no one else ever will.
I just want to "sensibilize" the rest of you: the wiki is what you make it be.

OSE is still lacking, so it's no better than Notepad or PSPad at the moment.
I use Notepad for all my scripting needs, with occasional PSPad operations.

@ jhmvr:
Dr. Crane isn't here right now but if you'd like to make an appointment...

No, you don't need me to answer these questions. Ask someone else neutral
Surely I'm not the only one who can answer basic scripting questions? Right? sad

Also, search engines are definitely your friends.
And they have more time to help you than me.
Search these forums for FRAPS. And for OTA.

As for OTA settings, here are a few tips.
You can cycle and shapeshift bots at runtime in the first F2 menu. README stuff.
Adding more bots is not recommended. Messy fights, pathfinding grid overflow...
If you open arena_teams.bsl in Notepad, you should identify "nicknames" easily.
Next to the nicknames you'll often find "actual" names of the characters in Oni.
If you want to replace or add characters, you'll have to edit arena_teams.bsl
If you want to know what "actual" names are available see here:
http://www6.fh-eberswalde.de/user/dkrie … charas.htm

Just look up an ingame message in the scripts and you'll find it easily enough.
If you want to rename teams, then you'll also have to edit arena_score.bsl

There are a bunch of versions available, for various levels and with various features.
The ones I pointed out to you are the most recent ones, and they're all done by me.
Other versions were "ported" by other people, and I haven't tested them thoroughly.
Currently, there is still work for porters (for example, porting the new core around).
Ultimately, porters and their motivation is the limiting factor. I can't do everything neutral

Take care while I'm gone. Hopefully there'll still be enough question answerers neutral

Re: Ota

Here's OTA1.1 for the compound, Mac version.
(I made it a single file)

Its should also work on PC, but shapeshifting through the menu doesn't work.

To change arenas you need to "jump back crouch" to access the menu "crouch run backwards"

Note: Your_Mom, you're welcome to change it to the PC version.

Any bugs or crashes is probably my fault!

Edit: See below for a zip version for those having a problem downloading the text version.

More Edit: This text version uses Windows line breaks.

Re: Ota

Re: Ota

Your_Mom: It should be a long text file.  I just combined all the files into one, to make it easier for the users.
I was able to d/l it as a text file.

Note: From time to time the first arena crashes on the Mac, don't know if that will happen on the PC

Re: Ota

jhmvr: Yes just put that one file into the compound folder, of course, move any other files to a safe place.

Your_Mom: Try this version, I changed the line breaks to Windows.
