Perhaps, but installing multiple script mods to a level might be desirable sometimes (at the least, with "global" it will be). Maybe a warning will pop up that just tells them that's what they're doing so they can avoid doing it by accident.

Oh yeah. That'd probably be a better call.

You're using the old AE, that is, one from before the 2009-07 release? Well, hopefully you have all the .oni and .bsl files that you used to modify Oni stored safely in some other place besides the GameDataFolder. Then you install the new Edition from a fresh copy of Oni, turn the .oni files you were modding Oni with into mod packages, and apply them using the Installer. Voilà!

Does your blood burn when you kill? Mine does

Are you on a laptop? If so, you're sure you don't just need to hold down the Fn key while pressing the F-key?

Hmm weird. AE installed stops at "Removing game data folder". I havent globalise yet and im globalising it. Its been 1 hr and no change in words or anything. Ive just reinstalled Oni with no data as this is a new computer. Any reasons?

What OS are you using? And you put the Edition folder inside the Oni folder?

Try manually deleting Edition\GDF, if it exists. Or creating one for the AEInstaller to remove if it doesn't.
EDIT: the Install button was still greyed out, wasn't it?

Hello tireless community helpers,
I cannot get AE to run on my Windows XP. I extracted the Edition-PC files to my Oni folder. The installer did not work, so I replaced it with the installer from http://gumby.oni2.net/AE/AEInstaller.exe. It worked; I globalized & installed. Now when I try to run Oni.exe from the Edition folder I get "Blam, Oni crashed." My startup file is attached. Any troubleshooting advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you to all of you who contributed to AE and have helped others to get it working

Open Options->Show Advanced Options.
Select "Complete level0"
Could I see your install\Globalize and install\Install.log's?
Also, what is your OS?
Also also, would you be willing to upload your GameDataFolder\level0_* files? I know, its a large transfer, but it would help immensely to see what is wrong.

Gumby: My operating system is Windows XP sp2
I selected Complete level_0 in advanced options. Instead of the "Blam, Oni crashed" message, Oni AE appears to begin to run. My computer screen flickers and other apps get pushed to the background, but nothing happens.
Here is my Edition/DameDatsFolder: http://rapidshare.com/files/291379589/G … r.rar.html
and install logs
I hope you find my data to be helpful. Thank you for your dedication

Well...something is not quite right. The whole GameDataFolder should be much larger than 15 MB. I'd suggest hitting the reglobalize button in the advanced options.

You might even want to delete the whole Edition folder and start over with the new installer. *shrug*

The problem is fixed. I used this installer .exe from http://gumby.oni2.net/AE/AEInstaller.exe
and: advanced options-"Complete Level0" AND "Sep" +reglobalize
I hope this information helps others

O_o Why were you using Sep? PC users should be using NoSep...but if it worked, more power to you. ^_^.

I think one of the problems it dosen't work is tat i didn't complete all the levels kamikaze did u complete all the levels?

Actually, that shouldn't matter, Stevin. The AE copies over the savegame file with whatever progress you've made in the original Oni installation, when it is installed.

So how did that updating every month theory go?

what?

First post:
From now on we will also be including the latest patches for Oni in our AE releases, so that everything comes in one convenient bundle. The general idea from this point on is to release whatever we have on a monthly basis. That way, there won't be long delays between releases in the future and people won't wonder if anything's still happening :-).
If we don't change the direction we're going, we'll likely end up where we're headed.
