My last question, how do you get Vago GUI to convert trams to dae? I tried but I always get the tram as XML file

In Vago's Character tab you first choose the ONCC/TRBS and then (!) set the animation.

How does it work?
The usual way: Drop one file, check if Convert to: meets your intention and hit Convert.
For animated Characters: drop TRAM and ONCC/TRBS in any order, hit Convert.

Thanks but I figured out what happened last night. After messing around with Vago GUI I found a little checkbox at the bottom of the character tab that is for a TRBS or ONCC to be extracted with the TRAM animation file. I gave it few tries until I figured how it works. My other problem is converting the .dae TRAM back to .oni. I made a split punch for my character, then i realized there is no option to convert TRAMS.dae to .oni

You need a xml alongside the dae because the dae doesn't contain the 'metadata' like hitpoints.
Extract a tram to know how the setup look like, changes link to your dae and do more adaptions. Read XML:TRAM, ask Samer.
