Re: Screenshots

It almost looks like a nighttime level. Also uh the glass isn't transparent anymore, what format do I use for making it transparent again?

Re: Screenshots

Casting with Konoko. If these pics make you crosseyed, you get 3D bonus.

Credits to Leucha (HD Konoko model) and EdT (skybox textures).

P.S.: After the cast, photographer (Barabus) was beaten.

Re: Screenshots

Are those kinds of "find 5 faults" pics? Is there any difference beetween the ones to the left and the ones to the right?

Ummm, yeah and nope at the same time:

I've been reading about this thing in my (former) gaming magazine, this is a method to achieve 3D effect like in Avatar or other 3D movies. If you'll try to look at both pictures at the same time (left eye looks at left picture, right at right pic), you'll possibly get some sort of 3D effect. Possibly. But not in my case, either I'm not focused enough or me eyes are broken. Most likely both. Oh, and no 3D glasses are required.

Re: Screenshots

Depicted "3D vision" utilizes mechanics of human visual perception. We (average human, no defects) scan surroundings with both left eye and right eye. Brain then reverses images, so left eye in fact provides right part of the result (ask Him Almighty, not me why is it set this way). So if you can provide both "left" and "right" parts and you somehow force your eyes to see only wanted part, you will see complete picture with depth. It looks like if you watched something real, something in space between screen and your eyes.

Generally two methods are used - parallel and crosseye, they differ in picture positioning (which one is on the right and which is on the left). I use crosseye one since my eyes adapt better to it. Pics above provide left and right part of the scene as if it was left and right Barabus's eye. Pictures are reversed, so on the right there is picture for the left eye. Of course things have always a humbe catch - in case of this "poor man 3D vision" we need to force each eye to see only the half of the picture which is designed for it.

This way of achieving 3D is quite old, it dates back to photopraph amateurs form 19 century, heck they even tried to modify Lumiere in order to try and get "3D movie". And today Sony and comp. are doing their best to convince public this 3D stuff is something new. Pshaw ^_^.

Anyway, a little help - sit a bit back from monitor (given the nature of viewing technique, the further you are the less you strain eyes), relax eyeballs. Now try to crosseye a bit whilwe looking at those Konoko pics. You should get a feeling there is some sort of "third picture" forming in the middle of those two. Yes, that is "fake reality picture" we are feeding our brain with. The hardest part is to take your time and slowly focus on this nonexistant pic. The moment you get a grip of it, you will be awarded with fully 3D Konoko. Post your opinions!

By the way, I had an idea about a year ago - nowadays machines are quite powerful, powerful enough to be able to render Oni twice. Maybe we can have our own 3D Oni this way ^_^.

Re: Screenshots

Got it!  I had to make it relatively small to see it though.  At the current size the images just wouldn't go far enough.

Re: Screenshots

Heh, nice idea Loser.  I surprised myself by being able to do these — this kind of picture has never worked for me before.  It probably helps that my eyes are naturally crossing and going blurry by this time of night >.<  All I had to do was squint hard, and they pretty much came into focus.

Right there with ya, Unit 2.  Now we just need to get Flatline running smoothly, so we can shoot each other in EdT's awesome level.

@Samer:  It was only a matter of time.  big_smile
