OniShots - Contest
  Second Contest

Again, thankyou to all entrants, and the patience MOST people have shown in relation to the obviously "unwaitable" time of half a week to judge.

The standard was once again high, although there were no massive res shots, and originality was taken into account. For example KyleNG has already posted a "Matrix Limbo Move" type shot before, thus eliminating anyone who tried to enter another one.

I suspect that this time I may get a small amount of "OMG JOO SUXX AT JUDGIGN" emails (thankfully, I recieived no such email last contest), as many of the entrants were neck and neck, so to speak. So please - don't sent any whines.

Well, either way, enough of MY whines, onto the WINNERS!

This one, although not the first time the move has been shot, was incredibly composed. The particle effects were creating a "firework" effect, and the reeling brown striker in the foreground just topped it off. To tell the truth, I could not honestly write the main reason I chose this. From when I saw it, I loved the composure, and the subtle subliminal Bruce Lee messages were pounding hard. Really, just a great shot.

A definite, clear winner. A number of shots entered with similar settings, however many had ugly clipped WMC beams, Merc. Bow "tube-slivers" etc. Well done.

If there was not already a matrix shot, both these slots would have been filled by them. However, after OVER 14 matrix images, I decided to just have a cool looking shot as second place. It is a really good shot, btw...

Creativity was the main callphrase I said (saying) to myself as I judged (judge) this fine little contest. You gotta respect this one...

"Step away from the console"

I liked this. The tazer (oh sorry, VDG) was pointed at the perfect level, Kon was oblivous....I just liked it. I'm the judge.

Mmmm....Power....

When I saw this, I laughed my head off. If you know the first thing about ballroom dancing (even from movies), you will realise that (in the screenshot) they are actually are doing the tango. Although it is just a strange angle and timing, this really stole the show. IMO, anyway.

Clap, Clap Clap.

Judges Note:

Firstly, thankyou to all entrants. They were all of an incredibly high standard (apart from one, you know who you are, paintbrushman) and it made my job enjoyable, yet difficult. Many submitted excellent pics that were too small, too pixelly (but big merit congrats to SSJVegeto, who took some camera shots from the PS2 version) or otherwise un-applicable. In future I will attempt to specify rules a little more.

While judging all entries, I attempted to pick in an unbiased way the best shot for each category. If you think my judging smells and your entry "kiked thos suxXxorz pix an joo r a gay dorf cos joo cnt juge" email me and tell me why, and I will read it and reply with the reasons of my decision. However, the decision will stand.
Enjoy the pics,

Bongo (bongo@bungie.org)

Selecting a winner from these two was hard. Very hard. So I decided them equal. The colours are fantastic, as is Konoko's position. The shot's overall composure is brilliant, with Kon's arms wrapped excellently around the striker's neck, and the other ninja reeling from the hit.

This shot is to put it blankly, f-ing brilliant. The camera angle places you as if you were one of the strikers, and also places you in the striker's piece of mind; Oh my god, this biach is going to kill me.
The fact that Kon is hitting 3 blokes at once is pretty cool too.

This one was a clear winner. It has great perspective and feel, and one can really imagine the height of the machine. To get to the shot location was also hard, and this was merited. The only cons about this was the lack of bright colour, and may have looked better with the command console in view.

  Ant pulls in yet another award, for this truly amazing 1024*768 shot, of the mercury sliver litterally missing her by a millimetre. This one really needs no explaining. The main humor was the striker "disguised" as a scientist, however the strewn bodies of every enemy in the sector (including those on the lower floors) was also quite amusing. I wonder how she still has full health without useing their hypos.... (C;
