Hey guys,
So, I followed the directions (I think...) and downloaded the installer. Got asked for my retail folder (I did have an honest copy...17 years ago.) So, I created an empty GameSaveData folder. It worked! And then it crashes right after startup. I have no idea how to make this work. I've been working on this for hours, please advise.
Thanks,
Jake

Hi there. You shouldn't have to create a GameDataFolder (is that what you meant?), as this is part of the retail installation. The new Oni application simply replaces the existing application.

Hey Iritscen,
Thanks for the reply. I think I followed the directions exactly the first time (maybe not), but I ran the command in the terminal to get it authorized. After that, when it asked for the retail folder, per the instructions (I think) I selected the same folder. And...it never went through. So I created a fake folder (New folder with "GameSaveData" slapped on it). It worked, then crashes at startup right after selecting video / audio options. Maybe I'm doing something wildly wrong?

Jake

It's actually looking for "GameDataFolder", or "GDF" for short. You should place Oni.app next to the GDF, then try running it and see if it finds the folder. If it still asks for the location of the GDF, quit Oni, look for ~/Library/Preferences/com.godgames.oni.plist and delete it, then try running Oni again.

Ah, hold on. This requires a retail copy installation. As in, this isn’t a full and complete game I take it?

That's right, only the game application itself is downloadable for free. You have to have a pre-existing installation of the game data (or the original Oni CD) in order to make use of it.

Ah, that would explain a lot. Appreciate it.
