I have little to no idea what I'm doing, but I played oni as a kid and loved it and i've been pathetically stumbling my way through it again now and I think i updated java and broke the AE installer or something .
I have been getting a Problem with Shortcut error:
The item 'javaw.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly.
I downgraded to java 7, but still no luck. SO i'll try upgrading to java 8 again.
please take pity, I've died so many times, I may cry if I have to work my way back up to level 10.

I DECIDED to try a last ditch effort to make folders identical to the destination folders and just paste a shortcut of javaw.exe into it and so far, it seems to be working.

Hmm, strange. What folder did you have to place the javaw.exe shortcut in?

I think I had the same problem. Today I reinstalled AE and it worked again.
Looks like AE is having some issue with java updates lately. Doesn't AE was supposed to have it's own java environment at some point?

The Setup app for Windows will install its own Java environment, but only if one is not already installed in Windows.

Alloc has changed the AE Setup app to always install its own Java environment, so if anyone else has this problem with their existing AE installation, they should start over by re-downloading the AE Setup from the Mod Depot and creating a new AE/ installation in their Oni folder.
