try it as only mod .. if it doesn't blam .. then it' something else .. it's only a texture mod no reason for it to blam

I only made the head texture and slightly modified the rest of the textures .. it's uroboros who did a good job first smile

I feel as though the visor part should be a darker color, just to vary the color a bit.

Also, that chestplate on the Red ninja is very white.

@Edt thanks ^_^ yes I liked that original concept, felt it gave him more personality and anime like features.

I agree I should have had a bit more color variation in the head texture .. I'll see what I can do smile

uroboros was going for this Ninja_Render.jpg original character concept by oni, where the armor is white, I did however decrease the brightness of it quite a bit from uroboros's original in my modification, but I didn't want to stray too far from uroboros's vision, but since there are now 2 versions available I might give decreasing brightness further a go.

Well...

The textures are quite interesting , but to shiny for ninjas in my opinion - a lot darker them will be more appreciate here.
The next point is shadowing . While the cloth and it's wrinkles look proper enough , the armor one need a lot more work - it's simply to flat.
And the last Thing is character shadow. I understand that oni engine isn't cable of support features like dynamic lighting or shadows, but that doesn't mean either, that we can't draw or bake them.

In my modification I added a lot of shadows to the armor most notabley the bicep shield texture from uroboros's original .. Which parts of the armor did you feel need more shadows ? i've looked at them individually and I think the rest is well done.
As for the darker armor the concept was recreating the original ninja -character renderer ... It could use some brightness decrease a bit on some parts. The trick is there are 3 variants of the ninja one which has lighter boots (shown on the red one here .. And darker boots shown on the blue one, we had to find the right chest piece shade that would go with both the dark boots and the light boots)
also which parts don't have shadows ? A lot of the previous ''shadows'' were black blurs ... Shadows are better implemented with burn tool giving a cleaner look which uroboros and I have done here ...

geez..

I don't really have time now, to show you step by step, how thous textures can be improved.
Just google old ps1 games or other, that don't support dynamic L&S , and examine them - maybe then you will see the difference.

Sad to see that the polycount was way higher in those renders. I wonder if there're still materials left of all this old stuff..

@ TOCS i'm not sure they were higher in polycount but they do look smoother, cleaner to me.

TOCS - The poly count is exactly the same - for me at last. The characters seams to be skinned and rigged instead only rigged (like in the original oni). I also see L&D here, support by the game engine or... the screen is from the 3d program - hard to tell.

I'm pretty sure that Ninja render has a higher polycount -- just look at the hands; there're actually fingers.

I don't see any seams. It looks like one model rather than a bunch of separate parts.

Interesting I didn't notice the fingers at first ... yikes don't know what to make of that.
