Re: Sketchup tutorials for making levels

Okay, my computer works now and that project is almost finished. I just have to implement AI Grid generating.

By the way, I was granted an account in Oni Galore and I'll be updating this page whenever I find anything new about level making or SketchUp itself: http://wiki.oni2.net/SketchUp_tutorials_and_tips
Feel free to edit it or add new things.

Re: Sketchup tutorials for making levels

1. In order to make things as clear as possible, I suggest editing CS to Counter Strike.
2. Do you know this Onisplit error: Unsupported primitive type "lines" found in geometry "mesh<number>-geometry", ignoring

I usually ignore this error. It doesn't seem to change anything.

Re: Sketchup tutorials for making levels

Please try this new version of OniSplit, it should fix the rotating polygons bug (I haven't had time to test it):

Re: Sketchup tutorials for making levels

So the progress with my de_dust port is going quite well, however I've ran into a small problem. The textures are supposed to be power of 2, and almost half of the textures used in dust have random resolutions, like 128x240 or 96x32. What then?

Re: Sketchup tutorials for making levels

Use an Image editor and re-size them.  Or look here for some replacement textures: http://www.cgtextures.com/

Re: Sketchup tutorials for making levels

Is there absolutely no way to keep the original resolutions?

Re: Sketchup tutorials for making levels

If they are repeating textures, which they should be, then just make the the right size. I can walk you through some of it on IRC if you want delano, just ping me when you are ready.

Re: Sketchup tutorials for making levels

Tried it now, and it seems to crash at around 35%.

Re: Sketchup tutorials for making levels

So then, originally, you were able to import the model into Oni as shown by your screenshots.  Then you changed the textures and now Oni crashed?  Or did you do some other work to the model?

Can you get the crash log of Oni?

Eh, nope. Right now I've did a small test level which is using a 256x192 texture. It blams when it loads, on about 35%.
And the crash log, erm, that's debugger.txt, right?

Re: Sketchup tutorials for making levels

why not resize the textures ? u won't lose their detail or ratio if done properly, u can always crop them into the right dimensions too.
this is a free tool to batch resize images : http://www.faststone.org/FSResizerDetail.htm

Re: Sketchup tutorials for making levels

Awright, I have no idea what caused the problems I had, but thankfully, now they are gone. Results: Oni DOES support textures which are not power of 2.

http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/9417/test2km.png
...where the hell did I read that Oni doesn't support such textures? Anyway, this means I can go on with that Dust port.

Re: Sketchup tutorials for making levels

I'm glad it worked for you.  Though from my experience, when a texture is not a power of 2, the texture will look odd in Oni. The colors and texture are not correct.

Looking forward to your Dust port big_smile

Tell you what:
progressq.png

However, I need a little help in order to slightly speed up the making of the map.

placement.png
The texture #1 is properly placed, scaled, and so on. Texture #2 isn't. And here's the question:
Instead of manually editing position of texture #2, I would copy the placement, scale & stuff properties from texture #1, since the rectangles they are on are pretty much in the same positions/angles/planes/you know what I mean. Is there a way to do something like that?
