Interesting, that was the game that stood out for me.

I dunno if this is the source but I found this off the front of lostlevels.org:

Angel Studios huh? Anyone know what else they've done?

Just an addition:
One of the comments:
I was actually a programmer on Oni 2. I even have the last version laying around on a DVD somewhere
It's a shame, as we really had a very nice feel emerging for the combat, navigation, and camera on it.
Also, the guy that was doing the character designs was awesome, and it's a shame that nobody will get to see his work on this or the other game he and I worked on afterwards that also got canned.

Something interesting:
The post most often discussed is “18 canceled games you never knew existed unless you worked on them,” which is just what it sounds like.
And given that I didn’t work on any of these games, all of them were news to me, including (...), an Oni sequel by Angel Studios (now Rockstar San Diego), and tons more.

Not very convincing, any of this...
Behold the power of that which is yet unborn! For the swirling images that flow forth from the Chrysalis are only a shadow of the sleeper's true power.

Angel Studios did in fact work on a sequel.

OK then, very convincing, all of this...

I have sent an E-mail to Eli Enigenburg (3D artist and animator, who worked on Oni2), politely asking for some materials (screens, videos). Here is the reply:
Sorry, I can't really help you with that. It didn't get very far in production and it was almost six years ago. There's a pretty large volume of concept art, but Rockstar (formerly Angel Studios) keeps that stuff pretty close to the vest. Maybe they'll revive it someday -- you never know.
Cheers, eli

Yeah, I don't think they ever got past the concept stage before Take 2 axed that IP.

Which just goes back to what I said about the convincingness of all of this:

Oh, and that would explain why Oni is likely to remain more or less hopelessly hogged by T2:

How's that good?

Real shame. And that was years ago, what could they do with today's technologies.. nothing I bet.

Sry guys, but that post on kotaku.com (somebody played ONI2) is obviously fake because of 2 reasons:
1.) If you read ELi's reply for my E-mail (And Eli Enigenburg was 100% working on ONI2) you should know that it NEVER passed CONCEPT stage or if passed, then coding just started when this whole thing was cancelled. How somebody could play some game which development endend in the phase of character/environment sketches ???
2.) The first guys who will play ONI2 will be geyser & company. ^_^

@ Loser:
2) "We shall see..." because it's your call, too
1) Whatever actually happened doesn't matter.
The original team didn't contribute to the story.
And the develoment platform was PS2. Yikes.
@ LastmanSAC's "it was cancelled? good.":
He means that since they aborted the sequel, that leaves fan fic writers more freedom.
Also, Oni 2 may not have been quite true to the Oni spirit unless it was made by Bungie.
I feel the same way about the lack of an official Oni 2, even though I don't say it often.
