Saving issue

I started playing this game earlier this week, I got up to the manufacturing plant level and decided to exit the game. When I came back, my save data was gone and I couldn't load anything.

I read up on this problem and it turns out the program file is read-only (square instead of check in the box). I think this is the issue here, but every time I uncheck it, the next thing I know it's read-only again.

Can someone explain to me how I can fix this? thanks

I lost my disk though :\ Played the game a long time ago. Wanted to revisit it, but couldn't find the cd.

Are you using an account that has Administrator privileges? Seems like you should be able to turn off the read-only flag on the Oni folder, if so.

I believe we could upload a finished persist.dat, to prevent the loss of data? Not that he should skip everything to the last level, of course. ^_^

Yeah I've tried to do this on my admin account. The read only box has a square instead of a check. So it doesn't turn off. :\

TOCS- I've heard people talking about "persist.dat" and have tried to find one to download. It seems there is no file called "persist.dat" anywhere in the program file. LOL if that helps, don't worry, I'll play the game through.

Well, if someone can upload a Windows persist.dat with all the levels unlocked, then you won't have to play the game in one sitting!

Just extract the 'persist.dat' to \Oni\Edition\ and you should have every level unlocked.

i've had that problem with the box in the read-only box. i dont think i've had it with oni, but with other things. i think it mean some files are read-only in the folder, while others are not.
if you click it again, it turns off and agan it's checked, one more time and its empty agai.
if that doesnt solve it, you can either try going up a level and try making that folder non-read only, or going down one, and manualy switching everything in the folder. at the very least you sould be able to figure out whats causing the problem.
of course, you've already solved the problem so its more of a FYI then anything else.
