Mercury Bow

mbo_kerky_2_800.jpg

Wouldn't work in-game without thirding the tri count, if I could texture I'd put it into Halo or something.

Re: Mercury Bow

Ooh, nifty.  You came out of nowhere, didn't you? ^_^

Well, yes, Oni is fairly limited in terms of polys if you're used to modeling for purposes besides gaming.  Anyway, did it look bad when you cut the polys?  And what kind of poly counts are we talking about, anyway?

I suck at writing introduction posts. =/

Not sure what you mean by cutting polys, I'm only really used to sketchup terminology.

Current tri count is 4166.

Re: Mercury Bow

cagerrin: That MB looks great! Hopefully, you can reduce the tri count and not lose too much detail.

Welcome to OCF, I hope to see more of your 3D Oni work.

Re: Mercury Bow

Cagerrin, I think by 'cutting polys' it was intended to mean 'what does it look like when you reduce the tri-count?'

The model looks awesome, it;s a very authentic poly-upscaling of the original. Nice work! Did you consider using more artistic reference to add in a bit more detail?

Any work on texturing this bad boy?

Looks neat so far!

Re: Mercury Bow

Never tried reducing it, I'm not particularly good at it.

In a few places(notably the recoil absorbers that the buttplate is connected to, as well as the weird magazine system), haven't done anything with the model in a while, though. Can't texture at all.

Re: Mercury Bow

Cagerrin: Can you please upload the model, so we can play around with it? :-)

Might have been triangulated during the export, but there it is.

Re: Mercury Bow

This model looks great!  You put in a lot of detail work on it.

However, 12,733 Vertices!!!  We can only have as a max 1,024 vertices for each object.

Can you make another model with the same shape, but is less detailed?
