Unlocking Konoko's moves

I know it's possible but I don't know how.

Can anyone tell me how to unlock all of Konoko's moves from the 1st level? I hate only being able to using Stepping Disarm on Dawn of the Chrysalis.

Re: Unlocking Konoko's moves

It can only be done by unlocking every move in the binary resources.
If you get OUP, it goes pretty fast: you just look for certain TRAM in level0_Final.dat
(you can look up the names HERE)
and make sure the value at 0x17E is 0x0000.

Or you can just go and grab THESE.

Ok you're going to have to treat me like an idiot here 'cos I have no idea what you just said.

What's OUP? Tram? No idea. Binary resources? Sorry.

If you have the patience to explain it to me I'd be very grateful. smile

I don't have the time to "treat you like an idiot" right now, sorry.
That's too bad, though, because many would testify I'm patience incarnate smile
Just help yourself to those two files, patched for you by professionals...
Download and "installation" are piece of cake. Everything should just work.

Re: Unlocking Konoko's moves

I understand what you're saying but where do I put them? Is it just the Warehouse DAT and RAW files or are there some more generic files that need replacing?

I understand you're busy and yes you are very patient.

It is greatly appreciated.

Re: Unlocking Konoko's moves

How it works:
Unpack files.
Place them into "X:\Program Files\Oni\GameDataFolder" (where X is your real HDD)
Back-up the original data somewhere or rename it to something like "level#0_Final.dat"
Rename your new data files from "level0_Final-enhanced.dat" to "level0_Final.dat", same for raw file (but don't change suffix)
Start Oni and enjoy. smile

Re: Unlocking Konoko's moves

Hm. I'm sorry. I was just mirroring Loser's RAR (I never make RARs myself) and forgot he had renamed the files before packing them...
(what for? beats me... maybe so that you don't accidentally overwrite your original level0_Final.dat and level0_Final.raw and blame it on us)
As paradox-01 pointed out, unless you rename them to level0_Final.dat and level0_Final.raw, Oni won't run. It just so happens that I never played with them myself smile
(yup, OBD experts seem to get their kicks from Oni just by staring at pages and pages of binary data... no need to actually run the stuff smile )
Anyway, do what paradox said. I've uploaded another archive HERE, in which both files have the proper names: nothing to rename.
I may link to that ZIP from the wiki and delete the RAR, but I have to make up my mind about this "what if the user doesn't make a backup?" thing...
BTW, instructions as for where to put the DAT/RAW were already given on the wiki (except for the bit about renaming):

(both files in the archive should go in GameDataFolder, backup the originals, yada yada)

(note the hyperlink: it tells you everything about the "where")
Yeah, I guess we should supply non-renamed files. If the user overwrites his old stuff, he can always reinstall Oni: serves him right for not paying attention...

The PS2 version has never been modded and probably never will be. Sorry.

Re: Unlocking Konoko's moves

There ARE a lot of Cheats for the PS2 version:

Invincable
Invisable
Unlimited Ammo
Big
Tiny
Refill Hypo
One-Hit-Kill
Fist-of-Legend
Big-head
and a couple others.

But I guess there's always CodeBreaker/GameShark.

Re: Unlocking Konoko's moves

Cheats (see HERE) have nothing to do with modding.
Cheats change a few built-in parameters of the engine.
Modding involves changing Oni's game content.
On PS2, that content is archivated on the CD as a single piece.
On PC and Mac, it comes in more or less readily editable files.
So sorry, AFAIK no one has ever tried modding th PS2 version.

well that'll make it harder! If you want to mod sonething, you have to have one first. code Breaker will do it for me.

Re: Unlocking Konoko's moves

Its a very good version but I cant use Barabas's big gun in it ... I tryed to replace the .ONWC files in this .dat file but when I change to the big gun, it crashes ... (I can use the original gun (cant run with it,no reload,no nothing) but I'd like to use the 1 I made with geyser's help ... (that was long long time ago ... but it worked smile )

Re: Unlocking Konoko's moves

Dr.Genya,

What "version" are you talking about? If you copy ONWC files across different level0_Final versions, some resource IDs may be off by one or more. You can fix those IDs rather easily by looking up what the ONWC is supposed to link to, but you can just as well mod the w11_ba1.ONWC in-place. After all, the changes are really minor for that one.

Re: Unlocking Konoko's moves

I've got one problem with this mod. After "installing" it, there is always some kind of pink trail, which appears when Konoko moves. Is there a possibility to "disable" it?

Re: Unlocking Konoko's moves

It's a feature. Loser thought motion trails were cool so he added them everywhere.
If you hate those trails, and only need the unlocked combos, pick one from here:
EDIT: (updating Oni Stuff link) http://ssg.oni2.net/download.htm
(the stuff you need is in the section Modified Files)

I got the same problem!

But the link that geyser gave isn't working!

Where can I find that mod? (all moves but without this "pink trail")?

Re: Unlocking Konoko's moves

Oh my, what a rush... Gumby, are you offended by the trails, too?
I hate to disappoint you, but I have no equivalent of ssg's files ATM.

Would you be OK with an English version of the subtitles & menus?
(ssg used to host patched DATs for every known version of Oni)

I'm not offended by trails. I would just rather go without them.

...Isn't my game already in English? You have confused me...>_> If it includes the moves than sure...

I can play with the trails if need be...

Re: Unlocking Konoko's moves

That Warehouse mod was my incoming gift, so it was a bit show off (aka see? I CAN do this ! ^_'). As Geyser said, if you are OK with English version, I can give you THIS (and hope it works X_X). It should have unlocked all Mai's moves from the beginning. If it wasn't working, please write it here.

Re: Unlocking Konoko's moves

Actually, the DAT alone will only work for a few English versions out there.
The DAT has to match the RAW, and if it doesn't, it just won't work.
The solution is to either distribute the DAT and the RAW together,
or to distribute a DAT for all known versions like ssg did.
EDIT: ssg's Oni Stuff back online: http://ssg.oni2.net
Downloads section: http://ssg.oni2.net/download.htm
Fixing broken link above.

Meanwhile, Loser, thanks for the upload.
Maybe you could (re)upload other stuff?
Like the "unreal" Mutant Muro boss fight?
Or maybe the scripts used for Revenge?
You break links all too easily... sad
