Re: Take-Two in Trouble, May Sell Company

Worth a try I suppose.

Hehe, yeah!
Maybe if we get the idea in their heads before they get another one we'd have a chance. :X

You could tell them: "it's bound to be a hit, there's already a 100 people waiting" lol

maybe asking for an ftp with some stuff for the game (SC, editors) would make more sense...

I think someone should call Sony and tell them a certain remake exclusive to the PS3 could help boost their sales big_smile

Heh, they need it. I'd make it PSP rather than PS3, though smile  It would take ages to come up with graphics worthy of the PS3. The PSP, on the other hand, could just handle the PS2 port with a few addons and modifications. smile

EDT, let's wait now that Dissident shareholders realease a oni2. tongue Let's send them emails requesting.

The time may be right to contact Take2, especially now that they're all willing to get a good reputation with gamers. However, a sequel motivated by the current Oni fanbase is almost obviously out of question, as dez_zt pointed out.
Emails are not an option, either. Many have tried, and the point is that emails are easily ignored. Snail mail is the only official way to actually get in touch with them, unless you already know specific people and their emails.

maybe asking for an ftp with some stuff for the game (SC, editors) would make more sense...

The only options at this time seem to be for Take2 to either make Oni public domain (not likely) or authorize reverse engineering while retaining the rights to future reinstallments (major patches, mission packs, sequels etc).
The latter is not too likely either (it happened for Marathon (MS) and Myth (Take2), but that was because the source had already filtered out), but in the present situation it just could work. Worth a (very careful) try. Soon.

What's going to happen now with T2? I would like to see Myth and Oni released as freeware (like they did with Marathon), but that's not likely...

Re: Take-Two in Trouble, May Sell Company

Myth modders had "inherited" the source and dev tools from Bungie, and as a consequence of that leak "MythDev" (now Project Magma) got an agreement with Take 2 (part NDA, part non-profit, part Take 2 retains full rights over any product).
In our case it's a bit different since we never had official dev tools, let alone the source. But we still might have a few things to learn from Project Magma. BTW, Marathon would never be freeware if it hadn't been for a deliberate leak by Bungie.

Re: Take-Two in Trouble, May Sell Company

I hope Bungie will know what's good for them after they're done with Halo.
I also hope they can take a hint. Oni 7th Anniversary would be such a hint.

Re: Take-Two in Trouble, May Sell Company

We can, but right now we have little to say and to show...
So there's not much for the supposed VIP to "think about".

Selling off... Oni? Myth? Maybe, but not right away probably.
