Re: Ghost in the Shell

That video is made up of cutscenes from the PS2 game and the opening to the first season of the TV series.  The TV series is 2D animation; only the opening is 3D CG.

Anyway, the TV series is very good, there's two seasons of it, and then there's three movies, Ghost in the Shell, Ghost in the Shell: Innocence, and Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society.  The first two movies are in a separate timeline from the TV show (GitS:SSS is based on the TV series, however), so you can either watch the first movie first, or the first TV season first.

Re: Ghost in the Shell

I think the remake and 2.0 are the same thing.  There are 3D models in them, but mixed in with the 2D animation.

Re: Ghost in the Shell

The 3rd movie (Solid State Society) takes place after the second season of the TV series.

Re: Ghost in the Shell

The movies and TV series have the same characters, but there are two storylines:

Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex (TV, two seasons) -> Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society (movie)
Ghost in the Shell (movie) -> Ghost in the Shell: Innocence (movie)

See? Two separate timelines.

Also, there are some differences in the personality of Motoko in the Stand Alone Complex universe and the original universe.

Re: Ghost in the Shell

Well, there's no primarily-3D Ghost in the Shell movie or show, but all of them have probably used 3D models at least a little (including the original movie if it's 2.0).  Personally, I think it's a bad idea.  They just do it to save money, it doesn't add to the show/movie in any way.

Re: Ghost in the Shell

May become a live-action movie soon, apparently still being written:

http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/04/14/ … action-3d/

After 19 years since its debut in 1989, DreamWorks has finally secured the rights to adapt the Japanese manga and anime series Ghost in the Shell into a 3D live-action feature film. Both Universal and Sony were also chasing the rights, but Steven Spielberg himself took a personal interest in it and made sure it ended up in the hands of his company - DreamWorks. Spielberg says that Ghost in the Shell is one of his favorite stories and is "a genre that has arrived and we enthusiastically welcome it to DreamWorks."

I've seen the Ghost of the Shell series on adult swim, *Not all of them* though. But its a good series. It's pretty lame that you have to stay up until 4am in the morning to watch it.

No, Ghost In The Shell is rated 14 I think. I know Ghost in the Shell isn't an adult show tho.

And it's the first Ghost in the Shell movie that had a (partially) 3D remake.
