Re: hey guy!

AE is project by a group of people (anyone is free to join) who are trying to add to and improve the existing Oni. There is a whole section of the forum dedicated to it, if you hadn't noticed.  roll

There are a few problems with making an Oni2. Mainly that of picking an engine. If you use the existing Oni engine, you have to deal with not being able to properly import new levels, until Neo releases a version of Onisplit with pathfinding generation. No idea how long that will take. Without it, your AI won't be able to do much.

If you use a new engine, you have to deal with recreating a complex animation system. Even if you copy all the animations from Oni, any engine you chose would not have a system suitible for using said animations. Which means you have to first make a program to convert your animations to the new engine's format, and then add the system to the new engine. It is possible, but will take a while. Which brings us to the third option...

Konoko Payne. You could create a sequel off of Pierre's engine. http://oni.bungie.org/community/forum/v … php?id=999 He has done all the above work of copying the animations into his own custom engine. It is still a work in progress though, I have no idea if he would let you.

The next question: do you have any skills in modeling, texturing, coding, design, etc? Without these kinds of skills, all that happens is you end up generating a lot of ideas but no content, like the old Oni2 project.
