Re: Oni on time

I'm on the Pfhorums, what about PR there?  Is that what you mean by Bungie forums?

Re: Oni on time

@NMS: "I used high quality, so they should look nice if you download them."
Now who the blam would download and archivate nice-looking speed runs?

"Does anyone know what causes this problem or how to solve it?"
The related thread in the Troubleshooting forum is your friend.

@ U479 & Iritscen: It's still a bit early for the PR. 2 more days...
By Bungie forums I mean the ones on bungie.net smile
If "Pfhorums" are different, then do them too, sure.

Behold the power of that which is yet unborn! For the swirling images that flow forth from the Chrysalis are only a shadow of the sleeper's true power.

Re: Oni on time

Sweet. Just curious: I noticed you went all the way up the stairs in the "blue" area of Warehouse. Wouldn't it be a little quicker to jump down and use the lower console?

...sometime you will have to try these runs with AE (the next version)...you won't be able to run past enemies to get to consoles >: )

EDIT: Nice bug on Airport. wink Lab, too.\

EDIT2: Regional State Building?! I tip my hat to you. smile

Re: Oni on time

I didn't know that console was there. Still, I think it's more out of the way. Either way I have to fall down one floor and climb one flight of stairs. It just changes the order.

Re: Oni on time

Falling down, then having to go up two flights of steps is a lot quicker than going up a flight of stairs, then back down, then back up....I think. wink

NMS: Great speed runs!  You inspired me to try it.

Here's my Airport speed run, Motoko style!

Motoko Lab run:

These runs take advantage of Motoko's enhanced jumping abilities. :-)

Re: Oni on time

Now that's just unfair. I'm lucky to get that much height with a superball gun boost! I like what you've done with the textures, too.

Re: Oni on time

Remember in the anime GITS, Motoko is able to jump higher than normal.  So I'm not technically cheating! lol

Level 3: Surprised! (when you did the last jump)
Level 4: Surprised again!
Level 5: Surprised when you used the Mortal gun.
Level 9: Aow! Another big surprise!
Level 10: Stunned *_* by the way you jumped and the way you fought with Mukade. At that time I understood why you only picked the Screaming Cannon.

And... yeah, by all those *big* surprises I can assume that you have learned Oni's places very well and you got some splendid skills such as grenade-jumping and disarming - run towards an enemy, slide his feet and pick the weapon as you slide. This is a quick-and-in-good-order disarm and I think I'm going to try mastered at this someday. wink

Very good movies!

Re: Oni on time

Thanks. Glad you found them entertaining. Levels 3, 4, 5, and 9 have big shortcuts. Level 7 will too, if I can pull of two extremely difficult jumps, followed by lots of fighting. I don't know any major shortcuts for the rest of the levels, so if anyone else does, let me know.

That reminds me of something I've been meaning to ask. It seem on level 7 that if I try to climb down from the top level to the next one down, I die to falls that I would survive on other levels. Is there a trigger that causes you to die if you fall through it? If so, does it cover the whole level or only certain places? And is there any way to avoid being affected?

At first I didn't think the slide disarm was possible, but then a TCTF Black Ops rolled into me, knocked me down and came up with my gun. I figured if he could do it, so could I. It's not so tough once you know how. First, run straight at the enemy, otherwise the auto aim will throw you off. Wait to slide until just before (or after) you crash into them. Then it's just a matter of pressing pick up at the right time. The gun doesn't always fall in the same place, but it's usually possible to get it.

Re: Oni on time

Atmosphere processor, exterior. It seems like it should be possible to survive climbing down the elevator shaft, landing on the cross braces.

Or falling down to the power conduit connected to the first room.

There's a similar conduit below the next floor that you can survive falling to.

Re: Oni on time

It sure would, but I don't think Konoko can jump high enough. Have you done it as Konoko, or only as a ninja?

Re: Oni on time

I haven't done it at all, I just found it on an old site. Lemme go try it.

EDIT: I did it, once...here is a comparison, of sorts:

Easiest

Jumping around the barrier in Lab

Jumping from the crates in the bottom floor of TCTF II to the walkway

Getting into the secret room in Airport (where the walkways are blown up)

This jump (maybe equal with the one above)

Jumping onto the other side of the bridge in ACC exterior (theoretical, still havent gotten it)

*insert lots of space here*

Jumping onto the large machine things in ACC interior. Near impossible, only did it once in about a hundred tries.

Hardest

Re: Oni on time

You managed that jump (from the sloped railing to the balcony) as Konoko? I've tried a lot and not succeeded. Could you make a video?

I can do the first 3 things on your list, though not very reliably for the airport one. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by the last two.

Re: Oni on time

In ACC exterior: From the beginning of the level, run straight forward until you reach a barrier. Go all the way to the left. There is your goal, jumping around that barrier.

In ACC interior: Fight the first two strikers. Then go out on to the balcony. See the big tall machines? It is possible to jump on one of them.

I can't make a video because I've only done it once. I dashed up the slope and did a quick turn and jumpflipped. Try experimenting with the time you do the flip.
