Three guns at once?!

Most of you probably think that Konoko can only hold one gun at once.

A few of you might know the trick of holstering your gun then pressing F7 to get another gun in dev moce (two guns!)

But I bet none of you have seen...three guns!

I present to you...More Dakka!

(bear with me on the length, I couldn't force myself to cut the song short.)

Re: Three guns at once?!

I don't want to give away Gumby's secret, but let's just say that you can't get a third weapon unless you can find some other way to put that second weapon away that doesn't involve the holster key (which just switches back to the first weapon, thus hitting F7 merely changes the first weapon to something else).

But I wanted to mention how interesting it is to me that Konoko can't be given a fourth weapon.  Even using two different tricks to give her a second and third, that's her limit.  She'll drop the third if you attempt to give her a fourth.  This means that her "actual" limit in the game is three weapons, just as depicted in the box art.

Re: Three guns at once?!

This music is "Queen of the Winter Night" by TSO.

And I still fail to see what is intersting about her dropping her third weapon. Where were you expecting it to go?

It's interesting because, regardless of whether you think it's obvious she would drop the third weapon, it leads to Konoko carrying a maximum of the same number of weapons that she's carrying in the picture.  That's all I mean.

Re: Three guns at once?!

We could probably assume that originally the engine was designed to let the player carry three guns at once. If you look at persist.dat, there's just enough space left to store the save data for two more weapons at each savepoint.

                        ???s?s ?l???l '??ol ¡??lq<?ndu?

Each character has two "inventory" slots and one "holding" slot. My guess is that the engine was designed so that you could have one gun in inventory and one in your hands, and still be able to go into cutscenes (which auto-holster) without you dropping your gun.

The persist.dat was originally what got me curious.
