Computer Error

Help me guys.

When I start my computer (WinXp) and went through the welcome part have recieved an error like this.

Iexplorer.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application.

I click OK 2 times since there is 2 of them.

Then my desktop icon and the start menu is all gone. The only left is the wallpaper.
I can still play ONI through the task manager Crtl+Alt+Del.

Please give me the best solution

Re: Computer Error

All I can suggest is to do a google search on either Iexplorer.exe - Application Error or The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005)

Lots of results come up, so maybe one will help you.

I'm on a Mac, so I don't know anything about Windows issues.

Re: Computer Error

Can you remember anything that went wrong before your computer started to behave this way?
My recommendation for such situations is to reinstall Windows after backing up all personal data.

Re: Computer Error

If you can: try a system restore.
(Look at "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Restore" there should be "rstrui.exe". I hope that helps.)

Re: Computer Error

Run an antivirus and anti spyware program too.

Re: Computer Error

Ran Mcafee Antivirus 2008 >>> No virus
Download a Windows Update Patch >>> Doesn't work
System Restore accidental delete when using Disk CleanUp
Use regedit and there is no registry value to delete which makes the error stop.

I wonder does a registry cleaner works? If it does tell me the best one.

Re: Computer Error

Try using a registry cleaner to remove the unnecessary junk.

Re: Computer Error

No thanks. My computer is fixed long time ago. And Tune Up Utilities is a bit better than the link you gave me. Plus it is a registry cleaner.
