actually put too much spoiler for Muro's saga up so i had re-edit my comments

i think i'm going in the direction of having the demo be of the first level of either Muro's saga or angel of darkness.

skill tree can be accessed at any data terminal

more things to note

-by successfully punching the opponent, you gain arm strength. AS Points which can only be used for moves using your arm
-kicking is the same way, you Kick strenght or KS points that can only powerful up kick moves

konoko can't do combos or throws in the beginning. she has to build up her leg or arm strength to do it.

however, she don't instantly learn those moves. to access the leg throw skill node, you would need probably a leg strength of 10 and maybe an arm strengh of 5. The leg throw move takes 1 KS point to activate. by alloting more KS points increase the power of the move

guys, it sounds lame, u just don't see how it works yet. it changes the game completely. it's really really fun.

wat's sick about the long board is technically it's classified as a weapon. but u can use it like vehicle.

it functions like a weapon, with normal "Q" interaction "E" to dismount.

however, u can pull out a gun on this freaken thing. of course Konoko has to level up her carry capacity to do this though.

is it possible to get funding for this project. wat's legality of it. i really don't want to create a entirely separate game. some type of crowd sourcing model, donation type of deal. wat u guys think.

Even if it would be totally legal in whatsoever aspect, you wouldn't get any money at this stage.
Your foundation is still very thin, you need more than 'theory' and a few image montages.
Tech demo first, then you can go back to that delicate question...

Realistically, to get crowdfunding for any type of project, the developer would need to show that they have the ability to complete the project. This can be done by showing previously completed projects or a resume of verifiable skills.

For your game to be legal, it cannot use anything from the original Oni. No textures, no models, you cannot use the same character names or animations, anything that is the intellectual property of Oni.

Can make a game that is similar using unreal engine or unity and use kickstarter as a way to get funding.. Also a game with the type of content oni has can get a lot of attention if you market it well, especially during the development phase when you have something good to show. Just add different moves, models, textures, animations and different story or something near to what oni has but not exactly.
