teh holy "Blam!" again...

Hi,

I thought the 10k-exe works but now the Blam! is back. Here is my startup.txt:

0) please stop calling it the "10k" EXE. It's the single most popular EXE around. It was initially offered by Ian Patterson HERE and it's offered by Harry HERE. It is the Blam-patched English EXE. (call it the "1492k" EXE if anything, to reflect its characteristic file size)
1) please make sure you get that patched EXE somewhere, and that you're running the right one, not the old Oni. Since Oni did work for some time, I'm ready to believe you've got confused by the many EXEs present in your Oni folder smile
2) remember that the English EXE won't be able to render the German "Umläute" etc. That will awfully screw up your Oni experience (especially since you don't seem to have played Oni before).
What I suggest is that you go through THESE instructions once more and try to patch your German executable with Ian's tool (which you can get HERE).
Also make sure you have the latest drivers for your NVidia, and have a look at THIS. It's a tutorial that guides you through the task of creating an application profile for Oni (from the setup panel of your NVidia GFX driver), a profile that limits the GL extensions to be listed by Oni (and thus prevents the Blam regardless of Ian's patch). The screenshots in the tutorial are in Russian, and possibly outdated, but you should get the idea.

Rather than congesting the forum with anoher tread...

I am also having this Blam problem under WIndows XP (had it working under Windows 2000 about five years ago). I get to the game menu fine. The Blam occurs when i try to start a game or load one. Been trying a few differnet things so far:

I've tried three exe files linked here and in other forums including Ian Patterson's.
I've tried the Extension Limit method listed above with no success.
I've tried the -noswitch option.
I've tried reinstalling the game twice.
I've tried several graphic option combinations.
I have disabled the intro and outro movies by renaming them.
So i'm not quite sure what to try next. Any help would be appreciated.

I have run the glist app linked at http://sfeli.oni2.net/files/glist.zip in another post and the output is as follows:

At what moment does the Blam occur? During the loading progress, of after the loading is complete?

If it's the former, your level files could be corrupt (at least level1_Final, the only one you can load at first).
It might be worth it to enable all save points with OSGE so that you can try to load the other 13 levels.

If it's the latter, I'm not sure what that means... probably the same smile  either way, something's corrupt.
