Exporting models

So, I wanna start on all this "bastardizing" stuff, but I can't find a proper command to extract all models in the Oni data folders. Any suggestions?

Re: Exporting models

mm I use OniSplit Gui by demos ... it's much easier ... just select all the TRBS files (in level0_Characters folder) u want to convert and convert them to dae ...

Re: Exporting models

Sam, you're using an alpha of 0.9. I didn't release it yet.

TOCS, try to create a bat file in Edition folder with these commands:

copy GameDataFolder\level0_Characters\*.oni GlobalData
copy GameDataFolder\level0_Animations\*.oni GlobalData
copy GameDataFolder\level0_Textures\*.oni GlobalData
install/onisplit.exe -extract:dae Models GlobalData\ONCC*.oni
PAUSE

And see if it works. If not, wait for GUIv0.9

Re: Exporting models

Thanks for the guides.
But the method demos wanted me to use, aren't working.
Also XSI seems like a very big, and hard to use, so I guess it'll take time before I get used to it.

Re: Exporting models

@ demos mm ok but ur previous versions supported batch conversion as well ... if u want all models,  convert  all  TRBS*.oni in level0_characters to dae ... using onisplit gui, really give that a shot.

XSI is hard to get used to at first, but EdT and I .. mainly Edt tongue have put all we already know abt XSI in the tutorial thread so that will make it much easier smile

Re: Exporting models

Sam, previous versions didn't support automatic batch conversion.

Re: Exporting models

It's copying 1 file and wants to overwrite all the textures.

Re: Exporting models

TOCS: Try this, go to Edition\GameDataFolder, move the folders level0_Animations and level0_Textures into the level0_Characters  folder.  Open OniSplit GUI http://oni.bungie.org/community/forum/v … php?id=692 and extract the ONCC of the character you want.  This will give you the 3D model of the character.  Its not a batch process, but, I don't think you really want the models from all the characters. smile

Re: Exporting models

Thanks, I'll see if it works.
By the way, is it possible to view/edit textures on the model?
That would make it all alot easier.

Re: Exporting models

You might want to look at this:
http://www.blacksmith3d.com/

You have to download the suite, but inside there should be a free 3D paint program.

Re: Exporting models

I guess Photoshop will be enough for me, but thanks for the tip anyways!

Another question: when exporting, should I enable the animation option? Because when looking on the model in XSI, all the parts seems to be streched upwards, like his legs and arms seems straight into the air.

Re: Exporting models

Oh, yeah, you should. I forgot to fix it in 0.8.11. You need to write the name of any anim which is present in selected ONCC's TRAC.

BTW, me and Sam had a problem with animations. We had got incorrectly exported vanilla TRACs thanks to Neo or Gumby or whoever so instead of 500 anims for Konoko we had aprox 60. To fix this you should replace all TRACs from that bunch-folder Ed told you to create with TRACs in
Edition\install\packages\Globalize\oni\level0_Final\level0_Animations\TRAC prep\level0_TRAC\

Re: Exporting models

TOCS: to unwrap the model see this thread:
http://oni.bungie.org/community/forum/v … 288#p22288

demos: I just did a comparison between the TRACs for Konoko, the one in the GDF and the one in the Globalize folder, the only difference I got was that in TRACkonokocore_animations the Globalize version had one more TRAM listed:
<TRACAnimation>
                <Weight>100</Weight>
                <Animation>TRAMKONPISfallen_back</Animation>
</TRACAnimation>

Re: Exporting models

Here's the proof: when I export TRACkonoko_animations to XML I get 2 files. Other konoko's TRACs are orphan for some reason. Maybe it's our system's or our game version's or whatever's fault.

Re: Exporting models

Thanks!

I copy-pasted the head from the comguy to a genericmale class, and replaced it.
Now I just need to find out how to wrap Konoko's sunglasses off. tongue

Re: Exporting models

that would be a bit more difficult TOCS ... the head is a separate part can easily be cut and parented to the neck of another character ... the sun glasses are part of the head . EdT and I had problems in that but EdT found a work around which I used for the BGI agents : u can see the details here :

I don't know what happened.  Its best if you let Gumby know about this problem.

Not sure. The TRACs that the globalization+installation produces can be a bit....buggy. Sorry.

Re: Exporting models

Pretty strange... TRACs produced by old non-GUI AE were OK.

Re: Exporting models

Because the old AE didn't combine different folders and such.
