Forum game: Nomic.

Nomic is a self modifying game.

A quick summary:

  • Any rule can (and probably will be) changed.

  • There are two types of rules, mutable and immutable.

  • Immutable rules cannot be changed unless a vote is held to make it mutable.

  • You win if you get 100 points.

  • You can get points by getting a rule passed, OR by voting against a rule that gets passed anyways.

  • Rules need at least three votes and a positive majority to pass.

  • If you make a rule that fails to pass due to not having a majority, you will lose 10 points

  • Tip: if you think a rule that is being passed is unfair, you can always make a rule against it or repealing it. smile

No smile

I propose to make the rules in the initial post immutable.

Denied, for several reasons.

Rules 114 and 103.

While you may make a rule that affects several other rules, changing rules to be immutable is a special exception. You can only convert of those at a time, unless of course you change rule 103 to be mutable and change the wording of it. smile

---

Also, I'm going to change the rules a bit without holding a vote because I adapted the original rules in a poor way. After 16 hours it comes down to a simple majority. If you have the needed votes, you get the points, if not, you lose 10 points.

Also, immutable<->mutable shall work just like normal rule changes.

Edit: Yes, the rules state we can have three rules voted on at one time.

Re: Forum game: Nomic.

I vote yes on the smilies.

The other one is void, right?  So, after this proposition, one more proposition can still be in play:

I propose that I don't like rule 202a.

202a. Points are awarded by the last digit of the post number of a post. If that digit is a 0, 10 points shall be awarded.

I am open to suggestions on the value, but I think rule passing should give a set number of points not based upon post count since all other methods of gaining points are set values.  For now, I say this:

<Failed due to lack of votes> 303. 202a shall be modified so that 10 points are awarded to the originator of a proposition that passes.

If we don't change the direction we're going, we'll likely end up where we're headed.

Re: Forum game: Nomic.

Woohoo! lets see... I challenge law 210

<304.> Law 210 , as it is paradoxial in nature and conflicts with law 111, must be amended. It shall read "There is a rule 210"

Obviously, I vote yes:

For: 2
Opposed: 1

Re: Forum game: Nomic.

well now that Oxe voted it would be, and i just realized that you could simply vote no for every law, if it isnt passed, others lose points if it is, you get 10 points... ima have to change that....
