Re: 3ds max -> OniSplit

Okay, well, I can't think of what else for you to try, so here's the stop-gap solution: you can try my set of .oni files -- which ought to be identical to yours, but just in case they aren't.  If the same command we've been discussing doesn't give you the idle pose when you use it on those files, then just download this idle pose .dae.  As I said, I can't actually see if it's correct in Blender, so you'll have to let me know if it gives you the correct pose for Konoko (a casual standing position).

The animation is good too.

I must have grabbed files from the wrong location. Searching the Edition folder for the files you listed presented me with multiple choices to copy from. I'm afraid I don't recall which folders they came from. Which root-most folder did you copy yours from?

Or, rather, which folder should I have not copied from?

Re: 3ds max -> OniSplit

I should say that I didn't mean to copy Konoko's combat idle stance, but rather her calm idle stance that she maintains when not fighting.  I don't imagine you would want to work on her in the combat pose.

Well, I copied my files from the subfolders in Oni/Edition/GameDataFolder/, namely level0_Characters, level0_Textures, and level0_Animations/level0_TRAM and level0_TRAC.  There should only be that one Edition GDF location unless you have multiple copies of Oni with the AE installed.

Re: 3ds max -> OniSplit

There is an easier way to extract the ONCC.  Move the level0_Animations and level0_Textures folder in the level0_Characters folder, then use the extract command for the ONCC inside the level0_Characters folder.  OniSplit will into the sub folders for the dependencies.

Also, when extracting for Blender, try adding this command: -zup

Re: 3ds max -> OniSplit

D:\Oni\Edition\GameDataFolder\level0_Characters>"..\..\install\Onisplit" -extract:dae . -anim:KONOKOidle1 ONCCkonoko_generic.oni
Animation TRAMKONOKOidle1 was not found

On a hunch, I put level0_Animations back, and it worked  tongue
[ edit: because I had anims copied into characters, in adition to the anims folder - I just now failed to import without anims under characters, having no anim files in characters ]

whichever anim I use, will it re-import correctly into Oni?

Re: 3ds max -> OniSplit

It should re-import correctly, since you will be importing just the 3D model or TRBS back to Oni, unless you are creating new animations, but that is a different story :-)

Ok, good. Thanks for the help, everyone

Which model is her in uniform? Sever's textures only cover this one's head and neck.

Re: 3ds max -> OniSplit

Its ONCCk3.oni  An easy way to find the name of the character is to use the cheat code "thedayismine" or "x" then press F8 to shapeshift through the characters.  On the left you'll see the names of the characters.

Ok, thanks

[a week+ later...]
I suck at this. This might take a while.
I was considering switching to animating. I understand the Iron Devil needs animations. I've done similar, a couple mechanoids.

Re: 3ds max -> OniSplit

I'm trying to get a modified ONCCkonoko_generic in-game

D:\Oni\Edition\install\OniSplit -create:trbs  . "D:\Oni\Edition\dae\ONCCkonoko_generic.dae"
level0_Characters\ONCCkonoko_generic.oni was modified

install\OniSplit -import:nosep GameDataFolder\level0_Characters GameDataFolder\level0_Characters.dat
dat & raw files were modified, after "removing duplicates". I'm not sure what that means

I see a small striker_easy, for some reason, even though I re-globalized. But no modified konoko_generic

rebuilding level4 didn't do it either. I'm assuming airport assault is level 4

what's the right way to do this?

[edit] same with that tiny striker. Reinstall time.

Re: 3ds max -> OniSplit

You can't manually import levels when you have the new AE installed.  You need to just make a new package (instructions are in a sticky here, it's really easy) and install your test model using the Installer.

Re: 3ds max -> OniSplit

Yes, as long as you're using the existing texture and other character information.  Fill in a few fields in the mod_info.cfg file and you're set!

Re: 3ds max -> OniSplit

Correct.  Here's a simple package format love_Oni made, that you can use:

Re: 3ds max -> OniSplit

Still the same model ingame

Oni\Edition\install\packages\25000HighPoly\Mod_info.cfg
AEInstallVersion ->  1.0 //
NameOfMod -> High Poly
ModString -> 25000HighPoly 1
Category -> AE: Character Models
Creator -> bobbysoon
HasOnis -> Yes
HasDeltas -> No
HasBSL -> No
HasDats -> No
IsEngine -> No
Readme -> Detailed TRBS for Konoko and other characters' model geometry.
GlobalNeeded -> Yes

25000HighPoly\oni\level0_Final\level0_Characters\TRBSkonoko_generic.oni
is actually striker_easy1

I install the package, I run OniAE, and I see no change. What gives?

Not konoko_generic tongue. Just to be sure in case konoko_generic hadn't been modified after all, I deleted konoko_generic and renamed striker_easy1 to konoko_generic.

Re: 3ds max -> OniSplit

No no, you can't just rename files.  That's your problem.  You're probably breaking all kinds of links and such.  I think you should just make a new TRBS.oni from a .dae and a TXMP.oni from a .tga (and make sure not to rename files after they're linked to each other internally), because otherwise you are getting yourself into confusing waters by altering and replacing existing characters and trying to test them in-game.

Re: 3ds max -> OniSplit

Hmm, looks like I swung and missed last time, so let's see if I have more success this time.

The ONCCkonoko_generic file applies to all the Konokos in different outfits, since they all have the same moves.

Re: 3ds max -> OniSplit

Iritscen: Strike Two!

There are ONCC's for each of the 7 models of Konoko, each with their own TRBS
For example: ONCCk4_K has TRBSk4_K_body_high

They all use TRACkonoko_animations, which gives them the same moves. This may count as Strike Three :-)
