Here's some instructions to add more characters to a level:

Edit:
And also I saw on your site a mod for the developer mode? Would that work in AE?
So do a full install again, and DON"T TURN OFF THE COMPUTER until its done.

Check this out: http://wiki.oni2.net/Oni_%28folder%29
See where the .dat/.raw files are? Does the basic Oni installation look pretty much like that? Keep in mind, that's the PC version, I haven't done a Mac version yet (shame on me).
The next step, I think, would be for you to post the log files from the AE installation. Maybe Ed can tell you what exactly to look for, I'm not on my Mac right now.
]]>And inside the GameDataFolder I only see more level folders no .dat or .raw files so I should reinstall?
]]>Also, look inside the GameDataFolder do you see all the .dat, .raw, .sep files for the various levels, are there folders such as level0_Final, level1_Final and so on?
Perhaps, the install of Anniversary Edition was interrupted so your data files are corrupted.
If that is the case, there should be a folder called GameDataFolderZero in the Oni folder. That is a backup of the original data files. You can delete the corrupted GameDataFolder, rename GameDataFolderZero to GameDataFolder and start the process again. Remember, the initial install can take 20 or minutes depending on the speed of your computer.
]]>Also, to clarify what I said before, the hierarchy should look like this:
Oni f
--Oni.app
--GameDataFolder
--[other files]
--edition
----big_deal.sh
----big_zeal.sh
----new_deal.sh
----install
------big_deal.sh
------big_zeal.sh
------new_deal.sh
------step0000.sh
------[etc.]
and you should be running the scripts in edition, not edition/install (and preferably use big_zeal, not big_deal). But if you use the Anniversary Edition Installer, which goes in Oni f (that's still true, right, Ed?), then you don't have to worry about what script to run because you just push a button.
(This is all from memory, so hopefully it's accurate.)
