You can still enter commands, but blindly. The console output, however, remains visible.
That is perfectly true for me as well.
]]>Does the console really not appear at that resolution?
I wouldn't know about the Mac builds, but in the PC versions the "CMD:" prompt doesn't show at certain resolutions - anything higher than 1024x768 in my case. You can still enter commands, but blindly. The console output, however, remains visible.
I first noticed that when trying to play in fullscreen at 1600x1200. I have no idea what the problem is, and as far as I know there have been no attempts to fix it yet.
[20][20][20][20][20][20][20][20]Save Point 1 Not, [20][20][20][20]OSGE[00] Save Point 1.
Actually it would be something like replacing the text string " OSGE Save Point 1" with " Save Point 1", and so on for every save point.
But in the persist.dat provided by Tarik, apparently it's more like replacing " OSGE Save Point 1°..." with " Save Point 1°°°°°°°..." (° is the null character).
That hack is not quite consistent with Oni's automatic naming, which uses 5 leading spaces rather than 4.
Yeah, I always found the "OSGE" a little annoying
Another way to get rid of the "OSGE" label is to hack the OSGE executable (I don't recall if its source code is available). Basically, since it seems to prepend the "OSGE" or "OSGE " string a lot, one just needs to find that string and make it empty.
The interesting thing here is that I never noticed that persist.dat allowed for custom save point names, until Tarik asked me about those OSGE things. That means that, instead of "Save Point 3" in Airport Cargo Hangars, one could have the label "Entering the Rat Tunnel". Right now, the save_game command doesn't allow such custom naming, but in the future, who knows?
]]>Does the console really not appear at that resolution? Well, it looks like you've gotten your hands dirty with some hex, Tarik, and that's more than I've been willing to do! Fortunately most work nowadays doesn't require hex editing, just XML editing, but I suppose OniSplit doesn't support persist.dat.
I used OSGE Save Game Editor, and i just Removed the OSGE, but in an Original way. Example [20][20][20][20][20][20][20][20]Save Point 1 Not, [20][20][20][20]OSGE[00] Save Point 1.
]]>Oh, and Griffin's been killed in this version, so the final savepoint puts you against Mutant Muro.
More, later.
