Interesting. Reminds me of group theory. I think it is just a question of not confusing 2D and 3D points of view, anyway.

About XSI mirroring problem.

Modify -> Poly. Mesh -> Symmetrize Polygons   -  should do the trick

Good luck witch your projects. There are quite interesting.

Well, the forum doesn't support attachments anymore, so to start off you should use a site like MediaFire, yes.

Re: SoftImage (XSI) Mod Tools - Tips, Techniques and Tutorials

Ok thanks.

First i must put all those files into single packages ,end then i will post it.

Regarding to package thing i have some questions:
1)Will any number will be god for it(I saw on the forum that moders use for theirs packages defined numbers)
2)How big(i mean in size) the package can be?

Re: SoftImage (XSI) Mod Tools - Tips, Techniques and Tutorials

1- I personally have those numbers reserved http://oni.bungie.org/community/forum/v … 119#p36119
this will show you what other numbers are reserved http://wiki.oni2.net/Making_a_mod_package and other tips
usually http://wiki.oni2.net/Anniversary_Editio … _numbering

2- If u're uploading to 3rd party sites doesn't matter .. but if it will be later uploaded to the depot (where most tested and working mods end up) limit is 50 Mb

Re: SoftImage (XSI) Mod Tools - Tips, Techniques and Tutorials

I have had this question for a long time ... Maybe ltemplar could answer it.
when u import an oni model to xsi from trbs .. How can u view all the textures on the model at the same time ? .. I usually select each indivdual part and then import clip .. But that doesn't make the texture stay on the part .. Hope u understood me.
another questions is there a way to resize the uv maps vertically or horizontally ? In the texture editor if u select the uv maps and press X u can scale them down but proprtionally (length and width together) .. I want to be able to scale them length only or width wise only. ..

Re: SoftImage (XSI) Mod Tools - Tips, Techniques and Tutorials

I'm isn't sure that i get you right..but if you want to create a patch for materials then you need.

View->Rendering/Texturing->Material menager opened first
Then.
Select a material(doubly left mouse click)End you get the window with selected material in general info there is a patch for all materials
I put here the image for better understanding

materialeditorxsi.jpg

EDIT1
Select all chose scale and then, tab and hold middle mouse button(scaling vertically),or right mouse button(scaling horizontally). left click dis selecting. Is this what you need?

Paradox made these very useful videos about XSI Mod Tool:
How to merge body parts without the fbx work around (that's a real time saver) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sd09YP_Bl9M
How to disable transparency in XSI (that was always a major annoyance for me personally) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGsq15Bt2RQ

Re: SoftImage (XSI) Mod Tools - Tips, Techniques and Tutorials

Hi guys!

I'm having a big trouble to get XSI to work on my system.

I have Windows 10 (Portuguese language).

I can't use either OniTools addon or import dae (in fact seems OniTools doesn't work because it fails to import the dae files).

I'm using XSI ModTool 7.5.

When I try to import a dae I obtain the following error:

Screenshot_3.png

Console output:

SetDisplayMode "Camera", "texturedecal"
' INFO : File exists.
' INFO : no version difference of OniXSI_addon.xml and OniXSI_home.xml
create_WeaponList
' INFO : Updated addon found: XNA.xsitemplate
' INFO : sub ImportModelProc ( in_filename, in_parent, in_reference, out_Value, in_modelname, in_shareOptions, in_ExtCnxMappingTemplate )
' INFO : Collada Import Event called...
' INFO : Target: helloworld
' INFO : Filename: C:\Softimage\Softimage_Mod_Tool_7.5\Addons\ModTool_Database\Models\helloworld.dae
' ERROR : 2028 - Invalid argument specified. - [line 91 in C:\Softimage\Softimage_Mod_Tool_7.5\Application\Plugins\collada_ie.js]
ImportModel "C:\Softimage\Softimage_Mod_Tool_7.5\Addons\ModTool_Database\Models\helloworld.dae"

I've tried to load the same Dae in a virtual machine with Windows XP and the same XSI ModTool and it worked fine.

I really needed some features of ModTool for a project of mine but unfortunately I can't get it working.

Has anybody ever had a similar problem? How did you solve?

Re: SoftImage (XSI) Mod Tools - Tips, Techniques and Tutorials

Maybe you have a corrupted xsi Installation. Uninstalling it might not remove the errorous files.  Try win 10 in a virtual machine and then install xsi. So you can be sure it's 100% clean.

Re: SoftImage (XSI) Mod Tools - Tips, Techniques and Tutorials

How can I remove all the files? How do I perform a full uninstall?

Installing in a Windows XP VM doesn't help since it is very slow and crashes a lot. I may try in a Win7 or Win10 VM to see if it is usable.

Re: SoftImage (XSI) Mod Tools - Tips, Techniques and Tutorials

I've made a clean install using ZSoft Uninstaller (it records the changes before and after the installation of a program). When the installer finishes it asks me if I want to start mod tool. If I say yes then everything works fine!

However after closing and opening the program from the start menu the errors comes back.

I've tried a few more times and I noticed that the program only loads the dae correctly if run from the installer. This weird since I can run it from the installer only once (when the installer finishes the installation).

Not sure what is happening, I must try the VM installion too.

Note: I've download modtool 7.5 from here:
http://www.moddb.com/downloads/autodesk … od-tool-75

Re: SoftImage (XSI) Mod Tools - Tips, Techniques and Tutorials

Mod Tool can be started in two different ways which result in different files/directories loaded. Try finding the xsi.bat instead of any links in start menu or desktop. Will check tomorrow on this.

Re: SoftImage (XSI) Mod Tools - Tips, Techniques and Tutorials

It doesn't work with either batch file or exe file. I had previusly installed Mod Tools 6 (and then uninstalled). Not sure if it is some compability problem. Btw version 6 has the same problem (just tried it now again).

\Edit

Just performed a full uninstall in version 6 and installed version 7.5. Problem remains.

I believe it is some problem with vb script.

I'm running a x64 version of windows 10.

Can you make a third snapshot and look what has changed?

@ cleaning up: Besides your regular xsi installation folder. There might be files under your user Users\s10k\Autodesk and Users\s10k\Softimage

I was going to install XSI on Win 10 but it refuses to install .NET 2.0 in the VM and i don't have anymore a Win 7 Ult iso so i can't create an environment with your language and xsi.

Right now I'm trying to create a portable app.

Edit:

Ah crap baskets... Didn't work.

Re: SoftImage (XSI) Mod Tools - Tips, Techniques and Tutorials

Here's how to enable .net 2.0 in windows 10:
http://www.groovypost.com/howto/enable- … windows-8/

@ cleaning up: Besides your regular xsi installation folder. There might be files under your user Users\s10k\Autodesk and Users\s10k\Softimage

I have deleted all of it before, no sucess.

A portable version would be great. In fact it is a really good idea.

Maybe I can try this once I have more time:
