Hmmm... which version of OSX are you running? We need to find out what's causing the problem.

Can you show us how your original GDF looks? Please show the file sizes in the window.

I have 121 items in my vanilla GDF. Although it's odd that VitalFlame's GDF total is 635.4MB and mine is 635.6MB.
VitalFlame, what I really wanted to see was the size of each file. Maybe the best way to do this is to use the Terminal. Go into the GDF directory using "cd /Applications/Oni/GameDataFolder", then type "ls -lR > ~/Desktop/GDF_sizes.txt". Then post here the GDF_sizes file you'll find on your Desktop. I've attached mine for comparison (user name redacted ^_^).
P.S.: I'm not sure my "vanilla" folder is 100% vanilla looking at some of the mod. dates, but we'll see what this tells us when you post yours.

Hmmph, I can't see anything odd about your file sizes, all the level files in particular match up.
Edit: Is this the latest AE? Because it seems to have created some folders in the Edition GDF that were only used by the 2009-07 AE, even though the Installer's creation date indicates it's from the 2010-05 Edition. If you just downloaded and installed the latest AE, though, it shouldn't have the level0_Animations and other segregated folders, just level0_Final. Did you just recently download the Edition from the Mod Depot?

I had similar troubles getting AE to work and I wanted to share my solution:
I found that I had placed the ONI game in to a directory that was marked Read-Only. All of the subfolders inherited this attribute making the Globalization fail.
I removed the read-only flag. Then I manually deleted the GDF from the "Edition" folder. Now when I opened the AEInstall it could see that I needed to Globalize again.
( I did this because the "reglobalize" button failed. )
Now I get no error messages! I got "Done, now you can play Oni!"
I am excited.

Yeah, the next version of AE will fix that for you.
