Game ignoring my controls

I'm running Oni with the Daodan patch and the Anniversary Edition both on top of it.  I'm having a problem almost exactly like this.  Any time I press a key or mouse button, there's about a 1/3 chance that the game will pick it up.  When I move the mouse, it only seems to read the new position once per second or so--this is especially obvious when using a gun, since I can see the crosshairs moving around in irregular leaps instead of smoothly.  This makes it pretty hard to pull off any combos, and the mouse turns so slowly that just about anything in the game can kill me if it gets behind me, just because I won't be able to turn to face it before I die.

My system is Windows Vista 64-bit with Service Pack 1, which is fully updated along with my video card drivers.  I have no framerate issues in the game, so I doubt it's a problem with lag or anything.  My system is:
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.33 GHz
Asus Maximus II Formula motherboard
2x ATI Radeon HD 4850 1GB PCI-Express x16 in Crossfire configuration
2x 2 GB DDR2-1066 PC2 8500 RAM
... so I meet the requirements about five times over.

So far, I've tried running the game in windowed mode and using draw_every_frame = 1 in the dev console, as recommended in a similar thread.  It actually did fix my mouse problem, but it also made the game run at like 60x speed.  Good for a laugh (or two, or three, or... okay, really, I almost fell out of my chair), but not much else.  Are there any other recommendations to how I might fix this?

Awesome, that works!  Though incidentally, it only seems to work for me for fullscreen--windowed, I still have the weird mouse.  I intend to play fullscreen anyway, so that's really not an issue for me, but it seemed worth mentioning since it's a beta and all.

Re: Game ignoring my controls

I'm having almost exactly the same problems. But that beta patch didn't work for me. I've tried a bunch of fixes I've read about in other topics. Different exes, windowed mode, compatability, processor affinities. No dice so far. I also can't get the developer console to show up, even after changing the bound key. I've currently got a fresh install with the original exe and the standard daodan.dll (http://rossy.oni2.net/files/daodan/binkw32.dll).

Here are my stats:
Vista 64x Service Pack 1
Intel Quad Core 2.40GHz
6 Gb Ram
1x Radeon 4850 512 mbs

This sure is a persnickety program! Hoping you can help me out, but don't stress yourselves out either. tongue

Hmm. 64 bit, I don't know of any cases like that. Double check your video drivers, please. smile

Re: Game ignoring my controls

I updated them earlier today. Same goes for windows update. I was thinking maybe it has to do with the quad core?

Re: Game ignoring my controls

No idea, sorry. But I have used Oni on a quad core before, ran great.

Re: Game ignoring my controls

Try using this Oni.exe, it's patched to only run on a single core so if the problem has anything to do with your quad core cpu than this should solve it. I'd really like to get to the bottom of this "unresponsive controls" issue, it's becoming quite common hmm.

Re: Game ignoring my controls

I'm afraid that didn't do it either. I don't have any other ideas except my computer is a dork. tongue
