Upcoming changes discussion

Hey everyone, Harry here. I want to let everyone know well in advance that a few things will be happening:

- We're moving servers

- We're "upgrading" the forum software

- I'm going to be adding some new moderators from people in the community

Now, the first is to be done for the stability and speed of running this forum. You've no doubt experienced issues yourself, and I am aiming to alleviate this.

The forum will be upgraded, however, there's more to that. The PunBB forum project has a fork now, called FluxBB. I will be moving the database over to it. FluxBB is identical to PunBB so no posts will be lost. However, attachments will present an issue since the attachment system is a mod to PunBB. The future version of PunBB/FluxBB has a much more intuitive and stable extension feature that will enable me to add attachments. I'm still exploring what I will do with the current attached files.

Lastly, new moderators. I'm doing this because I'm obviously not around as much as I should be, and there's people out there who are. They'll help me make sure things are kept up to snuff. I am not taking nominations or requests, the future mods will be notified by me in advance.

So when does this all happen? Well, I'm waiting until FluxBB reaches the final release of 1.3, which should be soon. PunBB has reached RC1 so FluxBB is not far behind. So there is no current ETA for when this will happen.

Same here. Keep the good work. But I still like this forum software I don't see any need to change and also the server is fine..

Update: PunBB finally hit 1.3, so the move is happening soon.

Can't say for sure if the attachments will be coming along, but I'll figure something out.

Currently, only one skin seems to be shipped with the latest version of PunBB. But once others are out, I'll add them.

To mark all topics as read, click on the "New posts" link at the top. You should be able to mark topics as read there.

The new forum runs faster indeed, that's a good thing. But I prefer the old forum style (if I remember correct, it's 'oxygen'). The new forum is quite bright, so my eyes got dizzy after I took time to write replies.
