Re: A shoutout from Yahtzee to the Bungie of old

Destiny was god-awfully over-hyped to the extent that when it was time for release it could never live up to the expectations. Even looking past the hype train it's a mediocre game ultimately destroyed by crappy design decisions and its lack of any coherent story.

This is a nice find though. I haven't watched Yahtzee for a while. To be honest, I didn't even know that the show still existed.

Ha, nice.  It's always surprising when someone remembers Oni.  Of course most of the guys that made Oni haven't been at Bungie in a long time.

Oni isn't really weeb material is it?...

Well I mean it's not like based on an anime that's overly Japanese...

True.  I don't know Yahtzee well, but it almost looks like he's embarrassed to admit he liked an anime-inspired game and is trying to cover for it by saying "weeaboo".

I think it's more likely he's making a joke.

He tends to be overly critical of everything, and is probably poking fun at a Bungie that takes itself too seriously to admit to the fact that it had an era were it made Oni. Kinda like poking fun at someone for having played with pogs in the 90s, I feel like in this case it's not an insult, but more of a goofy way to look at things.

/people who played with Pogs are goofy, I played with pogs.

I like Yahtzee. He's brutally honest in his reviews, yet it doesn't get stale.

I don't know, I like Yahtzee too, but 'brutally honest' is not quite how I'd describe him. He tends to only pick apart the bad things about games, which he himself said because positive reviews aren't as funny, and get less views. So shading your content for humor I'd say is a little less than "brutally honest".

Still funny, either way.
