Name of sound file for weapons?

Trying to make new weapon sounds. I can't find the type of file for weapon sounds. Some help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Name of sound file for weapons?

I've never modded weapons but to my knowledge all sound files are SNDD type and referred to in an OSBD file .. Wapons file is ONWC ... ( think of ONWC as the ONCC for characters, OSBD as a TRMA and SNDD as a TXMP but for sounds not textures) so i'd try to find a link to sounds in the onwc and then try to find the corresponding osbd and sndd, convert sndd to wav to hear it.
This page is about ONWC but i didn't find anything about sounds in it and it appears to be more about hex not xml http://wiki.oni2.net/ONWC but maybe it could be useful .
hope someone else can give u a more helpful answer.

Yes seems at least you can define the EmptyWeaponSound in ONWC. Not sure about the gun shooting sounds.

When dealing with sounds I usually consult this page:
http://wiki.oni2.net/OBD_talk:SNDD

It includes some excel scripts which will help you to generated the necessary files.

Re: Name of sound file for weapons?

It looks to me like the ONWC links to PAR3s for each firing effect, and the PAR3s are what link to the OSBDs, which link to individual SNDDs.  So if you follow the trail, you should find the weapons sounds.

byproducts are fine, but where's the beef?
