This is Hayate's second look : The textures aren't done yet ...I'm still going to add more detail, shadows and highlights and maybe a sword on the back.

Btw I made the model TRBS from various already existing oni characters .. can u guess from which characters the parts came from tongue ? the head .. the pelvis and thighs .. the biceps and wrists ... the chest .. the head

Nice work man! I like this version a lot better than the old.

I believe the head is the half of a Fury, but mirrored left right. smile The chest and pelvis are from the scientists, I think. The calf are from TCTF cops, and the thighs are from the ninjas. I'm way too tired to try and figure out the rest by now. <.< All I can say is, nice work. It really makes a difference compared the previous attempt.

TOCS u got most right

head is from fury with head band, it's not mirrored but i modified the dimensions moved some points and edges to make it masculine.
chest is from male cop.
pelvis and thighs are from tctf cop (after modifications)
calfs are from com guys
shoulders, biceps, wrists from griffin smile

btw this is not a replacement for the first look with ponytail. they're both going to be included .. 2 different looks of the same character.
i was thinking of a third look that resembles prince of persia.

-I noticed that the hackers of oni community made a lot of modifications before they locked me up, do you have any idea what they want with an old game? -Modifications? What kind of modifications?
-Hard to tell, without getting a look at things but it looks like they're repurposing it. -Why?
-Beats me, all the game has is brutal melee combat and furious gunplay. -I dont like the sound of that.....

ouh ok .. yeah they can be ... but now they lack any detail .. they might look better when i add detail.
but anyway i will remove them and see if it looks better smile + that way they'll look less like the tctfs. so i'll try it smile

I'm still hoping to make hayate some new animations particularly throws before i release him .. that's going to take some time :\

I also still haven't figured out the sword moves I have few questions regarding this and few ideas

1- Is there any way i can make the weapon -sword- have collision with the enemy when a move is made ?
in the trams there's an extent part ... could that have anything to do with the range of the hit ? . the hit occurs when the fist connects with the enemy's body, if i could increase the reach of the fist without actually moving the fist it would seem like the sword collides with the enemy.

2- is there a possibility to add a particle on the sword that has collision ? maybe a small shimmer or light on the tip of it ?

3-another idea like paradox said is making 2 ONCCS. but here my idea is make the sword part of the TRBS .. i'll make the sword part of the fist in XSI, i'll merge the sword and the fist. it would be the fist shaped as a sword then the hit is done by the fist and appears as done by the sword. then i'll have to give him a new TRAC and make the rifle idle pose the standard idle pose, the problem would be if he equips any other weapon and carries it it would look weird.
so for this idea to work :
1- is there any way i can prevent this character (the one with the sword carrying TRBS) from equipping weapons ? no guns and no rifles and no nothing :\ or is that hard coded ?
2- i'll need some bsl command thing such that if the player presses Q (or the holster key) the player would shapeshift to the ONCC with the sword and once pressed again he'd go back to the non sword one.
if this is possible it would look very cool i think smile in 1 TRBS he'll have the sword on his back, press Q he shapeshifts to the one with the sword in his hand and not on back big_smile as if he carried the sword smile i don't know if that's even remotely possible without affecting other characters ? and being applicable in any level.

a fourth idea also don't know if possible :\
can an animation be made that uses a different TRBS ? than the main TRBS ... meaning all moves use one TRBS and then the RIF moves would use a TRBS where the fist has more reach .. i can do this by adding an invisible edge on the fist.

I hope I'm making sense sad

Samer:  Sorry, I don't know the answer to your questions.  I have never experimented with melee weapons, except for making the sword, just for fun.

Looks like this is one area where you will have to tread in unknown waters and let us know what happens. smile

Also, I really like this new version of Hayate, your skills with character modeling gets better and better.

The answer is yes. You can run a string of particles up your weapon. Start with using the indicator light from the plasma rifle. Once you get a few of those lined up on the weapon, I can help you more in adding collision (it's pretty damn simple).

Hmm... not sure if it's been mentioned/thought of yet, but I'll throw this out here anyways.

1)  Could you possibly change the sword's orientation so that it's at right angles to his fist?  That'd look more realistic IMO.  Right now it looks kinda like he's holding between his middle and ring 'fingers'.

2)  collision with sword... what about the "barrel slam" move when you punch with an empty two-handed rifle?  would it be possible to take this and edit it into multiple new attacks specifically for the sword?

3) When you get the sword working, you'll have to make a lightsaber for us Star Wars geeks.  big_smile

Really like the new Hayate BTW.

and how do i exactly add particles on weapons tongue i'm very unfamiliar with modding weapons.
is there a short tutorial ? where should i get started.

The Creature ...
1 if i rotate the sword, (i don't know how to do that) but if i do then in all moves it would remain in that position. not just when holding it. so a launch of the sword forward would have the sword swung while it's pointing upwards and he's carrying it like a torch.

2- the barrel slam move u talk of i used it once as a super for the bgi agents, i think this is the one u mean, in this move like in all other RIF moves, the impact, the hit is actually done by the fist and not the weapon, so same problem remains.

3-  i was going to make yet another outfit a sort of advanced yet warrior like outfit, (still haven't quite pictured it fully)  with a luminescent sword or an electrical looking sword, i'll do so by re-texturing this sword (which is by EdT) and if i know how by adding particles. but that would be for a future release ... i still have much to do for the first release :\ animations mainly.


so we're going with the particles idea ...since there are no comments on the other ideas m gonna presume they won't be feasible.


and thanks EdT smile glad u all liked the new look ... now I'm reworking the first look :\ going to ditch the original head and modify the second one. screenshots soon.

I modified the original outfit : used the new head mesh and texture from the second outfit (no more face tattoo) ... shortened the ponytail ... modified the upper body texture removed the cloth pattern and cleaned up the pixelation, removed the yellow knee caps and changed the boots ( no more huge yellow boots)

I've also added more details to the second outfit.
