Re: Official Flatline Thread

super specal awesome work!
you're better then most (if not all) of us here on the fourms!
keep up the amazing work, i cant wait to help beta test it.

also, as long as the the lag is uniform, that is how the animations are all a frame behind,
i think i could live with that. i'd have to get used to it, but if everyone has the same amount, you just need to compensate a little. and it should be fine. well i mean thats no reason to try and get it perfect, but dont worry about it too much if you cant get it to work. of course, you probibly already know all that. tongue

It's wonderful! I'm totally amazed!

This will be the biggest achievement we have this year, don't you agree? roll

(And congratulations on your work, Gumby. This is a big done! big_smile)

Can't say anything else but... amazing big_smile
How long have you been working on this? Because at least as far as I've seen you've given no hint whatsoever of the Flatline project, and before this multiplayer Oni seemed like a myth.
Funny that in older posts you kept telling that only after LAN (and lots of work on it) there could be MP over internet, but now it seems you've jumped the gap from zero to functioning internet MP tongue

Keep up the good work!

Not even the year I say it tops pretty much everything we have done with Oni.
Now I'm really excited even though I know it still has a long road ahead of it. big_smile

It looks great indeed smile ! That's sure promising — the idea of playing against a friend is a very exciting one!
How does latency affect gameplay for now?

It's been in the workings for a few years actually, but there has been little progress, or at least, little progress that is showable in a youtube video smile People hint at it here and there in posts, but Gumby is putting so much work into it, we feel bad about asking directly how its going when we're doing nothing to help (not that we can)

Kinda reminds me of that story of the busy chicken and the other animals that wouldn't help her bake a loaf of bread big_smile

From time to time, Gumby released a video to show his progress. I suppose the last one was before you joined. but you're right abouot jumping the gap from LAN to internet I think...

"Not I." Said the Phydur.

Don't worry, I don't mind people asking. smile That's why I put up this topic, with status updates and everything.

....unfortunately, I haven't done anything noteworthy about it. neutral

Re: Official Flatline Thread

To me, asking how far you've gotten is like asking the ever annoying question "Are we there yet?"

This thread is a bit better idea, because you can give us updates at your leisure, and we don't have to ask stuff like this anymore... if you've done it, it's on this post

Re: Official Flatline Thread

Darn, this is amazing! Is there any way I could participate in beta testing? (I live in Toronto, and I have high-speed internet.)
And possibly host another beta server on my own for people who want to test it in Canada? (Basically help you out with this.)

Can't wait for the release!

Not yet Striker. I still need to work out one control issue, then I'll consider adding more testers...

I'm definitely also interested in helping test. Although you can probably just assume that everybody is interested in helping test. tongue

We can test how many can fit in a server until the lag becomes unbearable and/or crashes

Yup that sounds about right. Too bad Gumby is not letting us test here in Canada.

I've been waiting nine years now, for something like this to happen! I think I can wait just the time it takes for a stable release.
