Project 257 (from my dreams about ONI2 to my own story)

Project257_001.jpg

A dark future … an uncertain past … no one left to trust … but Bill.
Eve fights her way through the Antarctic base of the TSC to free Emily out of the laboratory of evil Dr. Anderson.
The security guards of the TECHSTAR Corporation (TSC) are after her.

Stop! Wait a moment!
Who are Eve and Emily? Who is evil Dr. Anderson and who the f*k is Bill?
I have never heard about these names in ONI.

Yes, you are right. It isn’t ONI. It’s my own story.
It's a novel about 85+ pages, I’ve written in German by now and it's still unfinished.
Forget the first sentence about “a dark future …”. This was only a joke. wink
But in my story Eve’s future seems to look really dark.

What happened till now?
The story plays in a secret laboratory of the TSC in the Antarctic.
Eve was delivered in heavily injured as a test object.
Prof. Dr. Connors saved her life with his self developed cell serum (C serum).
The C serum changes her cell structure, makes her much stronger and improves her perception.
Unfortunately, by her accident, it seems, that Eve has lost her memory completely.

Prof. Dr. Connors 10 years old daughter Emily is dangerously ill.
Emily suffers from the same illness her mother already died of.
Connors has tried desperately to develop the C serum for years to save her life at least.
When Connors notices that the C serum works, he treats Emily with that to cure her.
Also Emily's cell structure changes and she is fast getting better again.
Eve and Emily like themselves and caused by the C serum a latent telepathic connection arises between them.

The TSC has other plans about the C serum.
She wants to create a super soldier, this one regenerates fast at injuries and one can clone this one easily.

Bill is the IT specialist in the base which is responsible for the central computer, an artificial intelligence named Carmen.
Carmen supervises the complete base with cameras and controls all electrical systems.
Bill is a friend of Connors family and because Eve cannot remind herself of her real name, Bill named her Eve.

Evil Dr. Anderson is itself dangerously ill, because he has executed crazy experiments on himself to get stronger.
When he notices that the C serum works, he sends a gigantic cyborg to steal the C serum.
The cyborg kills Dr. Connors, kidnaps Emily, steals the C serum and puts the laboratory into fire.

Commander Grey is the leader of the TSC base.
Because of Eves great strength he thinks, that she has mutated to a monster by the C serum.
He thinks, that she has killed the professor and so he hunted her by his security guards.

Bill knows that she is innocent and uses Carmen to give her tips at her attempt to save Emily.

But this is only the beginning.
During the story Eve recognizes after and after the evil truth about her past.
In addition, the fear permanently grows in her, whether she mutates by the C serum.
She is terribly afraid that her character could change and she then really mutates to a monster.
And she is afraid, Emily could suffer same destiny because she was treated also with the C serum.

But there still are many further components which influence the story:
- powerful robots, cyborgs, clones and other creatures
- an ominous test area mentioned zoo
- Victor, the evil son of the company founder Arthur Farnsworth, this one like a hacker manipulates Carmen and Bill causes great problems
- by Bill's modifications Carmen develops a consciousness of her own and if she awakes, this will cause further trouble
- Emily develops intellectual strengths
- Eve is caught up by her evil past sometimes
- but there are also a couple of funny components

Some things of this will happen in further parts of my story.
Being able to be surprised.

I’m a friend of stories with  a happy end, but my novel is still unfinished and I’m not sure, how it ends … not yet!

In the old forum I have already published a couple of pictures.
See here: http://oni.bungie.org/forums/index.php?threadid=506

So what is Project 257 actually now?
A novel? Yes. Still unfinished, but I think I can manage that I can finish it. It is only a question of time.
A game? Not yet, but it could become a 3rd person game in 3D Gamestudio with some simple punch and kick animations.
Of cause not a game like ONI with a melee of about 233+ animations.
I think only about a very simple game, because I know I will never be able to create a game which tastes like ONI.

But for now, I will finish my novel.
And here it is "Project257 part 2" as a further German reading about 16 pages.
If you are able to understand the German language, enjoy!

@geyser
A few days ago I have sent a mail to owldreamer, but I don’t know whether he has read it.

Thanks Alloc I’ve got WebSpace for my files and pictures since last weekend. smile

I’m not sure whether the ONI Galore WIKI is the right place for my novel and future game Project 257.
Because it is no ONI story, I placed it once again in Off Topic.
Other hand, I’m a huge fan of ONI and I thought much about ONI while I wrote my novel.
Of cause therefore one can also see it as a tribute to ONI.

What do you think about this?
Is ONI Galore Wiki - Projects - Development - Project 257 the right place for my novel and maybe my future game, even if it has to do nothing with ONI?
Yes, there are some similarities between Eve and Mai or Emily and Shinatama, but the action and the characters in my novel are quite different.
I would already be proud if somebody would move Project 257 from Off Topic in Creative Minds, but unfortunately, it isn't an ONI story, however.

Much isn't of use, because most members here speak English, if I try to tell the story with my own clumsy words in English.
One need to read it himself to understand it correctly and enjoy it.

I were glad, if some members here in the forum would like my novel and if anyone of these, who speaks well both English and German and feels free would help me to translate it in English.
Of cause, I can try to translate it myself, but I fear the result will be useless presumably.

Sorry about my bad English ;-)

Re: Project 257 (from my dreams about ONI2 to my own story)

@EdT: Oh, so you can read German? smile  How about helping out with the translation then?

@Tracker: Project 257 is definitely Oni-related. I already said I think it is more of a tribute to Oni than most Oni-related fiction out there.
Thus it fits in quite well both in the Creative Minds subforum and on Oni Galore. You can start HERE and in subpages thereof.
With the German text posted on the wiki, incremental translation to English should occur rather smoothly. Don't worry.

Having a look at part 2...

Yeah!! The long awaited continuation. Parallel plots now available.
Sounds like a 257-advertisement ;D
I liked especially the "mech-chapters" .. this little Antarctic base getting out of control, hehe.

A tribute to Oni, no doubt. And I agree to the point using wiki pages for hosting trackers story and make it easier to discuss (there). I want some questions out of me..

Off topic, but I once had a dream about Oni. I can't remember much, but I was supposed to die at the end. It was set after the end of Oni and alot of Syndicates apparantly survived.

Re: Project 257 (from my dreams about ONI2 to my own story)

@all
Thank you for your nice comments.
I'm happy if you have liked it.:)
I hope I can finish part 3 soon to show you.

@geyser
Thank you for your help and that you like my story.
Thanks to you Project 257 has found a space in the ONI Galore Wiki. smile
I'd logged in, take a look at your awesome disclaimer^^ and the help file.
But then I was a bit confused, because I didn't know, how I handle with that.
I've never worked with a wiki before, and I had no idea how to organize the free space.
Meanwhile I have mangaged to copy the 14 chapters of my Project 257 in the wiki.
I hope, I've done right. In the history I caused some chaos, as you see.
Please take a look at the wiki and feel free to make changes if I made anything wrong.

By the way, owldreamer had answered me on my mail.
He says that he has a lot to do but that he still works from time to time on his own project.

Well I don't speak German so I don't know as much about the story, but when you say:

Tracker wrote:

It seems like the story is just like Oni. Correct me if I'm wrong, please, but maybe this section is a bit too much like the original Oni storyline.

Apart from that, I think robots, evil sons of company founders and even an evil doctor are cool ideas!

Re: Project 257 (from my dreams about ONI2 to my own story)

I'm glad that you like my story.
Yes, I'm a huge ONI fan and you'll find some similar dialoges or characters still used in another connection.
I know, my novel contains some strong and some weak parts, but I always try to bring in tension and change.

Yes the sentence about the evil truth about her past sounds like ONI.
But in part5 when Emily helps Eve to get her memory back, you'll see that something is different.

In reality Eve hasn't lost her memory through her accident.
No, 4 years ago, her ghost was manipulated in order of the TSC founder, and without wanting it, she has killed persons and has done other things, for that she is ashamed now and she cannot agree it with her conscience.
Yes, she was Arthur Farnsworths bodyguard and order killer and his evil son Victor has staged her accident without knowledge of his father.
She was selected specifically by evil Dr. Anderson (and Victor) as a test object for Prof. Dr. Connors, because of her unique genes.
Prof. Dr. Connors didn't know about this and perfected his C serum with Eves unique genes.

I don't want to betray more now yet, but you see, I have brought in my own ideas and there are many differences compared with ONI.

Re: Project 257 (from my dreams about ONI2 to my own story)

I was watching the end movie, and if you remember correctly, a lot of the people on earth died (or at least that was my impression). Mai is wandering through the destroyed cities, and the narration says:

Konoko wrote:

The chrysalis will change us all. Hopefully for the best.

This implies a sequel, Bungie may have planned it, but here's an idea for your story: most of the people who are alive have had to have the chrysalis take over their bodies to help them survive.

I know it may change the story dramatically, but it wouldn't fit as well if everything was ok.
If you like this idea, you can always put it in with your second draft:).

Re: Project 257 (from my dreams about ONI2 to my own story)

Mango,

Project 257 is not an Oni sequel. Also note that Tracker's story is pretty much "done", so there's not much room for constructive criticism at this point (all the more so as you haven't read the actual material... *shrug*)

The actual quote from Oni's outro is:

Mankind as we knew it is doomed. The Chrysalis will change us all. Let's hope it's for the better.

As has been discussed on ASFO2, this is not much of an option, actually: Mai is at her most naive and delusional then.

Re: Project 257 (from my dreams about ONI2 to my own story)

@Mango
I hope that you aren't disappointed, because my novel isn't an ONI2 story.
Therefore I have published Project 257 under Off Topic.
Perhaps I have described it badly.

Two years ago, I have given up the target to create an ONI2 game of my own.
One reason was, that I knew, some people here in this forum already worked on it.
On the other hand I have seen, that I would never manage it myself, creating such a complex game like ONI2.
Finally, I didn't want to steal existing models, other resources or names from ONI either.

Nevertheless, I wanted always to create an (at least very simple) own  3 rd person Shooter like ONI.
So I thought out a story of my own with other names and began to create own models in Milkshape.
As I started to write the story board for the game, I noticed that I enjoy the letter and finally it turned into a novel named Project 257.

Because I am a huge ONI fan, you will recognize nevertheless similar dialogs or actions, even if they are used in another connection.
Therefore I think, that the ONI Central forum is the right space, because I think that many people here have similar interests.
I would be happy if you nevertheless read my novel, as soon as there are parts of it in English.

At the moment, I just revise and correct the German part 3.
It will presumably contain about 20 pages and I hope, that I can show it here until next weekend.

Re: Project 257 (from my dreams about ONI2 to my own story)

I see, you would like to read my novel and you are a bit impatient because the English translation is missing.^^
But I tell you, I will try to manage it, although I fear the result will be useless presumably.

It's already very difficult in German to find the correct words for the right meaning.
Translation programs are useless for this, because they don't understand the meaning of the text and use words in a wrong connection.

My novel will contain about 120 pages until it's ready.
If I try to translate it myself in my clumsy English, I would need at least approx two hours for a page.
So, 120 pages translation would need at least 240 hours.
If I would work on it like a full time job about 8 hours per day, the complete translation would need about 30 days.
But this is my hobby and because I could only translate it in my spare time, I would need at least half a year.

You see, much work for one particular, but with some help from the one or the other, who speaks well both English and German and feels free to help me, it would go much faster.
So, please have a little patience.^^

As soon as I have published my third German part, I will try to translate at least the first part which contains 18 pages for you.
I would be happy if you like it. smile

By the way, your avatar looks cool.
I like pictures and animes like this. smile

That.s cool, take your time man, its just a hobby, no need to rush things just for people like me. If I spoke German I would totally help you, unfortunately I only speak English and Glaswegian (I know that technically that's only a dialect, but seriously, non-Scots are pretty screwed when dealing with Glaswegians.)
Keep up the writing, from what everyone else has said it at least sounds entertaining, and what's a good book if not entertaining? smile

By the way, I apologise if anything I wrote above doesn't make sense, I occasionally write things in a complicated way for some reason.

You want to apologize? For what? Don't worry. I found your comment funny. smile
I would be happy if you furthermore write your comments and you could read my novel in English sometime.

After the German part 3, I need to think something up again to finish my novel.
This isn't a problem in German, but this is an English forum and I am not sure, whether I will find the correct, strong words in English.
At my clumsy English I will be dependent on help.

I know my novel doesn't include any intellectually valuable texts and it isn't an ONI story.
But nevertheless, I would like to kidnap you to the world of my evil and crazy imagination with that, and hope that you like it.
If not, I would like to apologize.
I think, I have too often played ONI and I have seen too many animes and action films. wink

Re: Project 257 (from my dreams about ONI2 to my own story)

Here are some details about the first 3 parts for English readers:

For now, I want to publish my novel, which you hopefully find thrilling and entertaining.
It is still unfinished and I think it will be about 120 pages (6 parts) until it is finished.

Everybody who knows ONI, animes and action films will recognize similar dialogs and actions used in another connection.
Although it has nothing to do with ONI, but it plays in a similar time (in the year 2030).

The complete novel (and perhaps future 3rd person game) plays in a secret underground (laboratory and factory) base of the TECHSTAR Corporation (TSC) in the Antarctic.
Casualties, this one was given up by the medicine, serve researches in genetic engineering for military purposes.
Eve is one of them.

The main emphasis of part 1 is based on the introducing of the different characters, Eve's treatment with the C serum, Emily's kidnapping and the theft of the C serum by Dr. Andersons cyborg and Eve's flight out of Prof. Dr. Connors Labor.
Eve is pursued by Commander Greys security guards, because Grey thinks that Eve has murdered Prof. Dr. Connor (Emilys father).
Bill, the IT specialist of the base, knows that she is innocent and uses Carmen, an artifical intelligence, to give her tips at her attempt to save Emily.

Part 2 is marked by his Mech character.
To free Emily, Bill told her, she must find and activate an old, gigantic, about 2.50 m tall fight robot, named Titan-X, on a scrap yard.
The Titan-X is as ruthless as a Terminator in his approach and helps Eve against the Security guards and Dr. Andersons cyborg, to free Emily.
Anderson knows about Emilys latent telepathic and telekinetic strengths, because her mother already had which ones.
He treats her with his Braintransformer to  strengthen her intellectual strengths and bring her under his control.
Eve comes just on time but Anderson opens a hatch in the ground and throws Emily to his zoo.
Eve jumps after her, to save Emily in front of Andersons creatures, which lives there.

Part 3 plays in Dr. Andersons zoo.
Andersons zoo is a undergrund military test area, with a snow area, a cave system and a marshy jungle area.
The first opponent, Eve has to fight against, is a wolfman named Lazarus.
Lazarus is very aggressive, looks like a werwolf (lycan) and is devotedly Anderson like a dog
(for ONI fans it could be interesting, that sometimes he sounds like Barabus^^).
Lazarus was Andersons first creature he has created.
Anderson named him by the Lazarus Project this one originally had planed by Victor and Anderson to clone influential people.

But Lazarus isn't the only opponent.
To survive, they still must fight against many other creatures.

But a main emphasis of part 3 is on the development of the character of Emily.
After and after Emily finds out, that she has now unbelievable intellectual strengths, by the Braintransformer, this one she uses her partly consciously, partly unconsciously.
Eve likes Emily and they become a good team to survive in Dr. Andersons zoo.
But Emily is also weird for Eve, because sometimes Emily reacts cruelly and unpredictably like into trance.
Eve lives in fear, because she doesn't know, what Anderson has turned on with Emily's spirit.
Does Emily really have a twice me, his cruel, evil Emily, like Anderson says or does he only want to saw mistrust between them?

At the end of part 3 Eve meets a creature, who looks just like her herself
(a scene which reminds at the Dream Lab of ONI).
She says she would be her sister Cora and Anderson would have cloned Eve like her herself.
Cora is mutated and more aggressive than Eve.
She describes Eve as genetic waste.
Eve must fight against Cora, but Cora is much stronger and much faster than her.
Eve can survive only by good luck.
The tormenting question is arising for her now, whether she is also a clone and whether she mutates just the same and gets aggressive as Cora.

So some oppressive, unsolved questions arise for Eve, but part 3 doesn't give any answer to it yet.
Every chapter of my novel is different.
I hope, I could arrange a small insight for English readers, what them expect in my history.

After I have published my German part 3, I will try to start with the English translation of part 1 (about 18 pages).

Under User:Tracker, I will try to establish a WIKI named User:Tracker/Project_257/English_translation
At the beginning, this will contain only the English headings of my novel.
I would be happy, if anyone likes my novel, speaks well both English and German and feels free to help me at the English translation.
Perhaps anybody could choose a chapter, which he would like to translate or he could help me to correct my clumsy English?
If anybody is interested, he can send me a mail or a message.
I would be grateful for every help.
It should himself produces only a uniform, well readable story in English later, to tension this one corresponds to the German original.
My German text I will try to upload under User:Tracker/Project_257/German_novel, so that anyone who likes to help me can get it.

My primary target is to finish my novel in German and in English.
On this base, I will create a story board for my future game, named Project 257, with less text, but more action.
The game shall become a simple 3 rd person Shooter like ONI, but only with some punch and kick animations.
I know, a game who really tastes like ONI, would be too complex for me.

I think, I can finish my novel, at the game I am not so sure yet.
But this is my only project and I will take care on it, as good as I can.
(I already sound like Kerr^^)

Re: Project 257 (from my dreams about ONI2 to my own story)

Thank you for the tip EdT! smile
I have printed it out.

But now, it's time to go to sleep.
In 3 hours I must get up again.

Many thanks Guido!
I will read your translation in the train on my way to work.
I'm happy! smile

Re: Project 257 (from my dreams about ONI2 to my own story)

I am happy you are happy, Tracker!

... my only hope is to see you happy even after having gone through all of it.
As you can see it is an adaptation of the first chapter. I have turned it into a screenplay (or something close to it), but I am not sure you will agree  on all the licenses I got ... wink

Let me know if it is ok with you.
