I was reading the old forum and there was discussion on getting oni to display in widescreen resolutions. Does anyone know if this can be done on the Mac version?

What happens if you set the screen size to 1280 x 768 in the options?
Edit: Mitchell, you might want to try Oni Savegame Editor http://www.lafty.com/osge.shtml it gives access to 1152 x 864.
Since I have a 4x3 monitor, I can't test if the widescreen feature works.

Mac owners: please consider giving us hackers a goddamn break
(OK, I'll ask SFeLi to have a look...)

geyser: Sorry to trouble you with all our Mac problems, but you just have a way of figuring them out!
Too bad there's isn't a Mac programmer that's willing to help.

A Mac hacker willing to unASM the OS X port would be very helpful indeed. Or tips from Mac hackers, even.
SFeLi told he won't be looking into the widescreen issue: Mac-specific GFX management >> PC hackers rest.

Well, savegame editor works, but it seems to reduce the quality to minimum and also to 16-bit no matter what I do. Thanks anyway though!

Well, for mac programmers, I just started teaching myself the Python programming language (I don't know anything complex, just a few mathematical things. It isn't going to help towards this though.
I say just keep it cropped at the sides for a widescreen monitor. I can't stand stretched games anyway.

Stretched 4:3, or native widescreen?

Stretched 4:3. I'm cool with games that already support widescreen, but stretching doesn't do it for me

Hey Mitchell, could it be you're playing the MacOS 9 version?
Apparently the Mac OSX port doesn't have any preset GFX modes,
and adapts to whatever resolutions are supported by the system...
And a question for Mango: do you have a widescreen Mac yourself?
I can't tell whether you have had to deal with a "stretched" Oni.
Anyway, it would look like widescreen modes should be handled by the OSX port "as is"... Please confirm.

I'm running the OS X port. I'm running it on an intel mac so I can't use the classic version even. The only resolutions I get are 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, and 1280x1024.

Mitchell: Which IntelMac are you using? (Mini, Pro, iMac, Macbook)
Also, which OSX port are you using? (Omnigroup or IntelFix)
There are very few that are using IntelMacs, so this information will be helpful.

@EdT: please tell us more about "IntelFix". That's the first time SFeLi and I hear of it.
@Mitchell: Hm. So, OMNI's port on a (widescreen?) IntelMac... and no automatic GFX mode detection...
OK, stay tuned, but we won't make any promises. Consider getting the PC version like EdT there...

geyser: IntelFix, that's the name I gave the hack by OneSadCookie that stopped the GL extensions from being listed in the startup.txt file. From this thread: http://oni.bungie.org/forums/index.php? … 392&page=0
Sorry for the confusion.

Thought so. All clear.

Sorry for the late reply. I have a Mac Pro and I'm using the Intel fix.

I just got a 22 inch monitor, resolution 1680x1050 a ratio of 1.6 for only $289, its by Acer.
In Oni, I can set the game to 1360x768 with a ratio of 1.77 and it looks good.
