Re: Favorite anime?

Sure, they can be weird.  They're free thinkers.  Makes the world more interesting, don't you think?   big_smile

But when you get down to it, we all have the basic human emotions in common, and they're just as capable of speaking to the heart with their stories as any other culture.  I could find weird stuff on the Internet all day, but it's irrelevant to the decisions I make about what I like watching.

Makes the world more sick and random, that's for sure.

Good imagination is one thing, deviant mind is another. Things like this one (and it's not the only one: I've been to Japan three times and saw lotsa product of their free-thinking) remind me of psycho patients' drawings.

Re: Favorite anime?

Why are you guys even still having this conversation?

Re: Favorite anime?

Because T_W_D is trying to convince us that weird things are repulsive and therefore, because a small number of people in Japan make or watch weird things, that we should shun them as a people  cool

Re: Favorite anime?

Honestly, just saying "weird things are repulsive" isn't quite true.
The game, Psychonauts, for example, was weird in every way, but everybody who played it loved it, and it also doesn't affect your lifestyle.

Re: Favorite anime?

We back on topic again? If so:

The big KyoAni three: K-ON!, Lucky Star and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya,
Neon Genesis Evangellion (of course),
FLCL,
Cowboy Bebop,
and pretty much all the Miyazakis: Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle and Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea (I haven't seen the rest, at least not all the way through).

And why do these people want to be dorks and losers in the first place? Why don't they even try to look decent, to socialize? Maybe their fandoms won't be judged so harshly then.

Because dorks and losers rule! Have you not been to a anime convention? If not you should dress as Konoko! I bet people wont know what character you are because gamers go to anime conventions too. *Calling anime fans dorks and losers is a huge stereotype and I find that offended* I've been watching anime since I was 5. Tenchi Muyo was the first anime I have watched in years and I still love watching it. It never gets old. Sailor Moon was also introduced to me by my uncle. He may be a loser. But hey, hes suppose to be getting married and his fiance also loves anime and she rocks tongue

EDIT:

By the way Gumby, Love your pic! It looks kickass!

again, not a favorite, but my first exposure was probably this show. It used to be on TV during the after-school hours when I was in grade school.  I barely can remember it, I thought it was strange and unique that the space-ship really looked like a WWII aircraft carrier.

Whats your guys favorite anime? I call Moriboto and DBZ.

I tried looking this up, I guess you mean Moribito Guardian of the Spirit?  Pretty cool show.

A friend told me about Black Lagoon, I just watched the DVDs of season 1 and 2,
these are pretty hard core raw shoot-em-up violence, not for kids.
If you think Konoko and Motoko are tough, check out Revy and Balalaika...

possible 3rd season on video coming in 2010.
