I has just came back from new organ music season opening. I was really impressed. Italian musician Mario Duella came to Volgograd.
The programm was:
Pietro Morandi. Sonata C-dur
Gaetano Valeri. Three sonatas
Domenico Puccini. Sonata
Padre Antonio Kasini. Elevazione
Padre Davide da Bergamo. Offertorium Sonatina.
Oreste Ravanello. Sonata D-moll.
Marco Enrico Bossi. Skerzo G-moll, op. 49 #2.
Constante Adolfo Bossi. Salut, op. 38 #3.
Bonaventura Somma. Toccata.
Actually, the question was "What do you think about classical music" so I'd really like to know what kind of classical music do you like.

I like classical music with a big orchestra because it has such depth and power. But I'm not really an expert on the subject and know only the "big classics" of the genre.
You're all like... like big fat failure turtles!

have you ever heard Rachmaninov's 2nd Concert for Piano and Orcestra in C-moll? I bet you'll like that. try to find it in Richter's, Kissin's or Berezovsky's performance.
(BTW, "Celine Dion - All by Myself" is very similar to 2nd part of this Concert)

I pretty much listened only to classical at one point in my life. I eventually noticed that all the composers I loved were from a late time period -- I've just never been a big fan of Bach or Baroque music in general. The Romance period is much more my thing, esp. late Romance, esp. the Russian composers like Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, Stravinsky and Tchaikovsky, but also Dvorak, Poulenc, Liszt, and other non-Romantic composers. I could go on and on but I'll stop there

I don't really know too much classical, even though I love some of Mendelsohn's stuff. I wonder what it would be like to listen to classical music on my mp3 while on the bus. Old vs New.
You can call me 3llen. It's shorter and simpler.

Try this - Modest Musorgsky. Pictures at an Exhibition.
and as an experiment:
Maurice Ravel. Bolero.
George Gershwin. Rhapsody in blue.
Bonaventura Somma. Toccata. (If you find it, contact me, please)

You'll like Mozart stuff if you liked Mendelsohn's. Try these:
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. "Der Holle Rache" ouverture.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Rondo A-dur for Piano and Orchestra.
As a contrast:
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Requiem K. 626 - Requiem aeternam
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Requiem K. 626 - Kyrie eleison
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Requiem K. 626 - Dies irae
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Requiem K. 626 - Lacrimosa
(try to find last 4 in Herbert von Karajan's performance)
P. S. I wouldn't listen to classical music in mp3. Lossless FLAC or even AudioDVD.

Try to find:
Sergey Rachmaninov - Rhapsody on Paganini's theme.
Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin - Nocturne Op. 9, No. 2
You can find 'em familiar.
