I really enjoy all the nice changes that were made to the game, however, I find that some things are really negatively effecting the gameplay on my pc. I find that general movement around levels feels completely different from the original Oni, for example, scrolling around seems to be a lot less smooth. Sometimes, I have to force myself through 3 mouse strokes just to turn around. Also, The special moves like the devil spin kick, and rising fury, are almost impossible to do... It seems that the crouch button doesnt respond properly, sometimes my character remains sitting for full 2 seconds after I let go of the crouch button...
I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem, or what could be the cause of it.

That sounds a lot like the "mouse lag" problem. Try downloading this file (http://websvn.chrilly.net/filedetails.p … ll&rev=458). Rename it to "binkw32.dll" and put it in Oni's Program Files folder. Make sure to make a backup of your old binkw32.dll in case it doesn't work.
You could also try enabling "V-Sync" or vertical sync in your nVidia/Catalyst control panel. This has been confirmed to fix the problem.

Thank you so much for the help. The V-sync seems to have fixed the crouching problem, and the file cured the mouse lagg, now the game runs great.
Thanks again for the help XD.

Alright, I need a bit of help. I downloaded it today and for some reason it won't install. When I go to click the AE Installer thing and it keeps telling me:
"This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."
I've re-downloaded it twice and it still won't install, it just keeps giving me that message.

Hmm, sorry to hear it, because that issue seems to require a change to the source, and the guy who needs to fix it is on vacation. He'll be back in a couple weeks, hopefully.
(He'd also be the one to help emmalover2009, if he were here. Boy, you can really tell when a major problem-solver isn't around for a while.)

emmalover2009: Try this: http://daodan.rossy.oni2.net/
wynnsora: Did you install the .NET framework? http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta … laylang=en

No, I haven't until now. I downloaded and installed it this morning and it still won't work for some reason.

Yeah you'll probably have to wait for Gumby to come back.
@Iritscen: It's definitely a dependency issue, do you know how to compile the installer? Perhaps I could have a try at fixing it.
Offline
Nope, I can't compile it for Windows, sorry. I also think Gumby never uploaded the Visual C++ project file like I exhorted him to, so I don't know how much you can do without it. I think it's rather tricky to create (the Mac project certainly was).

Hope you're still around, wynnsora. Try this installer: http://gumby.oni2.net/AE/AEInstaller.exe .
Edit: Warning, it may also frack up your Edition installation, so have a backup of everything, as always. Some users are reporting that it fails to compile some levels and makes the game unplayable. When Gumby gets back, we will be able to tackle this issue again.

what is the advanced options for ???
the sep and NOsep
and separated level0 etc
Offline
The Sep option produces Mac format levels (.dat/.raw/.sep). Non-separated level0 is basically also intended for the Mac because of an engine limitation, but it may help some Windows users who have some specific issue. It makes one set of level0_Final.dat/.raw files instead of separate .dat/.raws for each of the folders you see (level0_Animations, level0_Characters, etc.).

is there a way to make a '''level0'' folder with all ''files (txmp ONCC etc)
* no folder should be in level0 ONLY ''files''
Offline
Good question. The answer is no.
But the next AE will have either one level0 folder or will have the level0 folders arranged in a way that does not break the process of modding. We've definitely learned our lesson. It's just a matter of when we get to making our next release (what with Gumby being away and my being busy), but it will be fixed at that point.

So when you guys add BSL to the installer, are you gonna have like different tabs for each level and then like a multiple-choice selection instead of checkboxes for the mods, or something similar?
If we don't change the direction we're going, we'll likely end up where we're headed.
Offline
Dunno. We'll definitely have to have some way of showing which level each script affects, so the user doesn't install multiple scripts to one level without meaning to.

Yeah exactly, that's what I was thinkin' and was just wondering how you were plannin' on doin' it. You could probably just make it so the user can only install one script per level at a time.
