Not for me.  Regular attacks do, but jumping attacks don't.

Do you have any special mods installed?

Any plans for AE to work with the demo versions of Oni?

I hope to make a special demo version of AE (basically normal Oni, stripped of the extra levels...) after the next release.

Re: Anniversary Edition Release! (2009-07)

I can't launch Oni after installing AE on Mac OS X 10.5.8. The program icon simply pops and then automatically closes. The Globalization and Install processes took a suspicious 3-4 seconds to complete.

Oni is a newly installed copy in Macintosh HD/Application/Oni f/ and the Edition folder is in there as well.

I've attached what I believe are the relevant logs. Hopefully someone knows a possible fix or what I did wrong.

Re: Anniversary Edition Release! (2009-07)

The Edition folder is inside the Oni folder, right?  Can you try taking the ƒ out of the Oni's folder name?  I can't remember if the path works with that character in it.

Check out the Anniversary Edition Seven at ae.oni2.net!

Just tried it, nothing happened. I'm going to restart and see what happens now.

Could we get a screenshot of the install folder inside the Finder?

Andrew: You are missing the data files from the original GameDataFolder.
You should have something like my attached screenshot.

Re: Anniversary Edition Release! (2009-07)

Ah, that's why. I've re-installed (more like re-dragged) and the Globalization thing now feels like it's doing something. I'll edit to post the results when everything is done.

Thanks a lot everyone for all your help.

EDIT: sweet, it works! Thanks again smile

Re: Anniversary Edition Release! (2009-07)

A little early since I only gave this a 1-2 hour run but I thought I'd give some feedback.

I like the installer- had some issues initially (as noted above) but that turned out to be my installation of Oni. Last time I tried AE, I had to start Oni via Terminal but it's nice to be able to just launch the application straight out of Finder.

Good improvements to the AI. Gone are the vulnerable opening attacks (Cannonball etc.) and the dashing keeps them on your tail so there's no easy escape anymore. Bullet dodging is solid but I think there is room to further improve on this. For example, a "tougher" armed AI could hold their ground/crouch and return fire.

The reworked knockdown adds a new dimension to the gameplay. I've accustomed myself to rushing the shooter and using a flashy/flying attack to disarm him. Not so useful now especially when you're put up against numbers- I've been Uzi'd at point blank too many times...it really makes do extra stuff like dropping your weapon beforehand so you can aim for a disarm and remove the weapon from the fight.

I found myself using the ninja the most because of the new shadow dash. It's good for getting behind your opponents quickly- try facing an opponent backwards and timing a back shadow dash. With the added mobility advantage, it still feels balanced as the ninja doesn't really have a strong back throw and they can still catch you with an attack moments after you initiate the dash. Here's to hoping for some interesting move upgrades for the other chars in the future.

Yes, I can now break glass by punching it. Such a simple upgrade but it adds a lot of depth to the environment. And I have to say the implementation is spot on. I can throw a flying kick through a window as expected (not something silly like I get stopped at the glass).

I'm sure there are more things I haven't even discovered yet with this release. Good job AE team.

Thanks for the feedback! It feels good knowing that our hard work has improved the gameplay experience of others.

Re: Anniversary Edition Release! (2009-07)

I've got some feedback:  AE f***in' RULES.

But,

I can throw a flying kick through a window as expected (not something silly like I get stopped at the glass).

It's really weird that you said that because whenever I hit glass from an in-air attack, it doesn't break and I DO get stopped at the glass.  I asked about this but apparently I'm the only one having this problem.

If we don't change the direction we're going, we'll likely end up where we're headed.

1. Are you using the Glass Breaking Moves Mod?
2. Do you have any third party mods that could be interfering?

Re: Anniversary Edition Release! (2009-07)

actually I too have that problem konoko's jump kick doesn't break glass while her jump punch does smile

I think the package that is interfering is particle trails ... try without this package and tell me what happens Leus. ( I just thought of that sine her jump punch doesn't have trails while her jump kick does)  If it works I can make an easy fix so the 2 packages can coexist

If you are running a PC, you need the .NET package. If you are on a Mac, you need mono. If you try to run the Installer, it will tell you if you are missing the needed software and give you a website to go to get it.
